Our Space At Gencon (was: ENNIES 2004 Ceremony Planning Thread)

Also, only one person should make a speech, either the writer/designer/artist or the publisher but not both or even more speakers. I also don't see the sliver award winner making a speech but since you actually give the award I don't see the point in pushing this point.

I agree - one speech per award period. Everybody loves Green Ronin, but it got to the point where there were audible groans when they won an award. To their credit they greatly curtailed their speeches at the end.

This is also a very good way to do it. If multiple people worked on a project, they should just have to win multiple awards. ;) (of course, that's how it tends to work out anyway...)

I second Crothian's suggestion to limit speeches to Gold award winners. I suggested it in the other thread as well, and it received a fair amount of support.

Also, please start the show by 8pm.

I'm going to disagree with this sentiment. I mean OK, we talked too much this past year; fair enough. However, I think silver winners should get to say something. There are simply very few times that people in the game industry get this sort of recognition. Why shouldn't a designer or artist get a minute or two to say something?

Frankly, I find the speeches the most interesting part of award ceremonies. A cavalcade of people walking onstage, saying "thank you", and walking off is boring. I like to hear what people have to say.

That said, I can see the logic of limiting it to one speaker per award.

I'm anti social so last year after the awards I stuck around and talked to people, but as trhey broke off into their little groups I retreated to the Hotel Room. But if you organize a reception I'll show up as I think its a good idea.

There's a whole world of difference between "Being allowed" to do soemthing and "Having a right" to do something.

I like bars, and I'm not sure that spending more time at the convention centre sounds that great to me.

Ditto that.
