Outsider Type Class Skills

What skills are class skills for an outsider type monster?

I ask mainly because D&Dg leaves out what skills are class skills when creating a new deity.

A deity?
I find it bizzarre that a deity needs to worry about where to spend skill points.

In general, skills for a creature aren't done by creature Type, but by species. Each creature has skills listed in it's stat block. Those are it's class skills.

Usually all those that are listed in its entry in the Monster Manual. When you create a new outsider race, all those that make sense as class skills.

For all Monster Manual Monsters, each listed skill is a "class" skill for this particular monster. If this monster advances by hit dice, or if you want to distribute the skill points differently, you treat listed skills as class skill and others as cross-class. If you advance monsters by class, the class's skill list applies.

I don't know how to create generic "Outsiders" like deities, I'm still awaiting D&DG. Maybe all skills are class skills, I'd guess.

You guys have stated things that I know already. But a Trueborn God, as opposed to an Ascended Mortal, has 20 Outsider HD and the book is vague on what skills should be considered class skills.

I'm not aware of an official listing of Outsider class skills anywhere. You'll probably just have to guess or create your own list. I don't have D&Dg, but you might be able to get an close approximation by looking at the stats of the various deities. From looking at the various Outsiders in the MM, I would say Spot, Listen, Search, Sense Motive, and Move Silently for sure. Most of the Outsiders seem to have ranks in these.

Of course, these are gods. They probably have all skills as class skills. ;)

[Edit] Another idea might be to mimic the Expert class. Let them take any 10 skills as class skills. [/Edit]

Emulating the expert class is a good idea.

Another possibility is to give them 8+int skill points per HD (for them being outsiders) and give them all the class skills of the classes he has. They are gods, after all, and impersonate those classes. Corellon Larethian, for excample, is the impersonation of the elven fighter and wizard, and so he'll be really good in things like jumping and spellcraft, and should get figher and wizard skills as class skills for his outsider HD. A god of thieves would get all thieves skills, the god of magic everything a wizard gets and so on.
