Overrated/Underrated Geek Media

sorry guys
the star wars sequals fail for the simple fact they didn't have a plan and they didn't write like any one of their cast could die at any time (puts down rose for leia and akbar).

both lord of the rings and the mcu knew this and built countermeasures. into their design.

all three movies should have been done at the same time and not have a director go leroy jenkins in the middle of a trilogy.
(the last jedi would have been a fine movie if it didn't mess up the trilogy).

now let's go somewhere that contentious.
underrated: Book of Boba Fett.

Tem and Ming knocked it out of the park and thematically it works as Boba learns how to balence his absolutely predatory nature with his desire to be a protector now.

plus he beats his mentor to death with a stick.

Season 02 please!
Love the first half of this post, hate the second half. There's no emoji for that.

Yes, but they hated it for really bad reasons.

I watched it when emotions had died down (which is my usually method now lol). There is a lot wrong with it. It doesn't function well as the middle of a trilogy (it unroots the first film but doesn't really lead naturally to a third final movie). There is also a lot I liked about it. I loved the Rose Rico character. I liked a lot the things people complained about. But the stuff with Luke was pretty bad. And it was so focused on flipping tropes, it never really felt like it took the time to be a great movie on its own (I was half compelled by the Kylo Ren sequence during his speech, but then it just felt like the writer started talking directly to fans: that would have been truly interesting if he and she had formed some kind of alliance in that moment)

Well no, because the other two films are absolutely terrible.
I think the first one Abrahams it up too much. But was promising (I had issues with it but really liked Rey a lot. She was terrific in that role. Killing Han was kind of dumb. Some other things were dumb. And I did enjoy watching the second movie. But they connected together so badly and there was no where to go by the third (and the third was genuinely awful)

Wonderful, but isn't the topic of discussion whether these IPs are under- or over-rated by the community at large?

I'm pretty sure the OP intentionally didn't define under/over rate or what community is being referenced so we could choose that as part of our selections. For example, I know Captain Power is well rated by its fan base (isn't everything?). But I consider it underrated because the larger fanbases of throwback shows largely ignore it. There's major interest in old Saturday morning cartoons (where Power originally aired), but those fanbases generally ignore it. There's big fanbases for cheesy sci-fi stuff (like Red Dwarf or Thunderbirds, as I mentioned), but Power never seems to get grouped in with those. Hence, it is underrated, even in the circles that would normally support it.

What I do know the OP intended was:

Oh, a rule: Don't comment on anyone else's. Feel free to emoji react if you must, but let's not devolve into squabbling on the best Doctor Who.

This was absolutely NOT supposed to be the place to rehash the BS about The Last Jedi and Rise of Skywalker one more time.
