D&D 5E Overrated Wizard Spells

Webbing up your ally shame on you... context -->" when that NPC lunatic charges behind the line of your sword toting brothers." -- > Its a mild pet peeve I have about those sword toting brothers and reaction being a rather severely limiting thing.

We can go on and on about scenarios. My point is Shield is superior, unless for some reason you are getting targeted in every combat--- well then you are doing something wrong as a wizard. People can disagree, my experience it is the most overrated spell. There is always a better spell to have on hand.

But this post was really about what you think is the most overrated wizard spell, not conjecture on game-play scenarios that can never be fully quantified based on my first opinion.

Fireball is an overrated spell.

The real failure of Mage Armor is that it takes your "AC formula" slot, preventing you from using a more favorable formula. If you ever have to rely on your Mage Armor to protect you, then you should just go ahead and assume that you'll be hit, and plan accordingly.

Banishment... no wait... splitting up the fight into 2 easier ones... sorry not over estimated

I actually think Banishment is overrated. For a few main reasons:
1) while they are gone ten minutes, if you lose concentration they can be back a lot quick than that
2) no reason they are not formulating a plan while gone. it's not like they are time-stopped.
3) You can't use it on friendlies

Otiluke's Hamster ball is actually better cause you can use it on an enemy or a friendly (or an object) and still keep track of the creature. It has more utility. And obviously Polymorph too. Everyone picks banishment for some reason -- just cause of the save type.

I think mage armor cast on a mage ought to be +INT not Dex ;)
