I have to get around to figuring out some Str scores for the weapons. This is too good an idea to let just sit around...

What if weapons were just rated by the size and strength needed to use them in one hand?

There is already some precedent for doing this. Bastard swords require a Str 13 (by virtue of the feat requirement) for using one-handed. I made an entire class of "heavy" weapons that required Str 13 for one-handed use and did something similar with crossbows: http://jtjaguar.home.texas.net/Crossbows.html

You have to be careful that you don't get into the situation of double tapping. A Str 18 character already does +6 damage, if you let him use a ogre's two-handed weapon without penalty your making low strength fighter types less and less viable.
