Pacifist Healer Sanity Check

Chris Knapp

First Post
So, I just finished a pickup game at a FLGS and one of the players brought an 8th level Human Pacifist Healer. He was dealing out surge + 6d6 + Wis + Cha each healing word. One fighter got healed for surge + 42hp one time. DM & other at the table didn't question it as they'd all played together before. But I was scratching my head wondering how. I used the CB to build what I remember from the guy's stats and I can only get surge + 3d6 + Wis + Cha. What am I missing?

I can't see how they got + Cha mod, but I can see the following:

Healer's Implement
Holy Healer's Weapon or Weapon of Healing
Healer's Armor
Healer's Brooch
Word of Retaliation
Symbol of Life
Battleforged Shield

Out of that, I think I can get a static bonus of 6-8, and +2d6 as a daily. So I'd say that something smells a little fishy.

The Pacifist Healer feat would account for +1d6 + Charisma mod at 8th level.

Gloves of the healer (12th level hands slot) could account for another +1d6.

As mentioned by Octangula, a 12th-level symbol of life could account for another +2d6 with its daily power.

Alternatively, the DM may have allowed the use of the Radiant Vessel feat at 8th level, even though it is technically a Paragon feat.

In Low to mid Paragon, the Kalashtar Pacifist in the group I DM was routinely healing characters from less than 1/4 remaining hits to full, with one Healing Word. It's a ridiculous build and annoying, in no small measure because it makes the players rarely have to spend more than 1 or 2 surges per encounter. I've had the characters do 6 encounter 'days', only quitting when they have gone nova with their Dailies. Even doubling monster damage output doesn't significantly impact it.
