D&D 5E Page numbers

So when I printed out my basic rules I noticed the page numbers happened to fall near the center/spine of the book on the inside, I initially chalked this up to me printing out the title page and thus misaligning all the subsequent pages being printed. However, with the new warlock preview I noticed the page numbers are in the center bottom. Is this how the actual book is going to be formatted? I'm still not 100% convinced they made an error of this calibur since the pictures don't really match up nicely but then again, I'm not sure. Anyway, small but very noticeable annoyance for me.

That preview was two sides of one page put next to each other. Here's what the spread actually looks like:

You didn't make a mistake:
In every book, the even pages are on the left side, and the odd pages on the right side.
I don't know why, but in Basic Rules the pages are "inverted".
