Ah, so after Pathfinder 18, they will no longer be numbered (except within a series)?

That would seem wise.

Correct! That's mostly for the book trade, as numbering by volume led the casual buyer to think that he's looking at Pathfinder 19 instead of Legacy of Fire 1. Which would you rather get?
