Pathfinder 1E [Paizo] Dragon #317

Got it today. WOW. For the first time in literally months, I have an issue that I can not only use most of, but what I can't is a good read! I'm nearing the end of a five-year subscription, and I was only planning to renew because I trust Erik Mona to remember that there are a few of us out there who are allergic to grit and darkness. Now my faith is rewarded. Instead of the utter lack of anything but wasted pulp fiber that I've had to mine carefully for a useable nugget that Dragon has been for me in the recent past, I once again look forward to next month. Boo ya!

If you think his performance in this thread is ridiculous, you should see Razz in the Wotc boards. He must be under 18, otherwise the dumb sense of entitlement completly knocks me for a loop.
With all due respect, almost everyone here on this board and Wizards have their own misguided sense of entitlement with regards to the D&D game franchise, including the "100% Official Dungeons & Dragons" magazines by Paizo.

Otherwise, we wouldn't see a lot of rants and threats of boycotts. IOW, without them, this would have been a dull and boring messageboard.

:p

Doctor-

Unless I am remembering wrong, Erik Mona is the EIC of Dungeon, but Matt Sernett is EIC of Dragon.

Other than that, I agree with your excitement about this issue! With the class ideas in 310 - 312, the lycanthropes of 314, the settings of 316 and now all the great stuff in 317 Dragon is just getting better and better- and it was great at the start.

Really? I consider myself above that. If I don't like a product, I will say so, but I would be reluctant to impugne the character of the designers for that type of disagreement, and I certainly wouldn't protend to know their business or audience better than they do. I'm always somewhat amused when a self-described 'fan' ascribes hubris or ignorance to any release that doesn't correspond directly to their expectations. I'm sure I'm not the only one.

It wouldn't be a boring messageboard without that disgusting, self-centered set of fanyboydom, just a more honest one.

Forgive that ironic rant, i know you were kidding. :)

I did know that, but in my mind, they're kind of linked. At least to coordinate themes, they must work closely together. :)

A ninja core class! OH MY GOD! The Lady of Pain is going down my brothers!
It might just happen. Of course, she did kill that 2E dual class 19th-level ranger/20th-level cleric guy, so I'm not holding my breath. Does anyone else think it sucks that the factions had to go underground in Sigil? Sort of defeats the purpose of the setting, methinks...

Um, first of all, were I under 18 I would be bashing other people in all my posts. I really do not remember ever doing that nor do I even remember bashing anyone on this thread particularly. I disagree with d20 products, others agree with them. It is a debate, and message boards were made for discussion and mature debating.

Now I could retaliate with what you said, but again, I am not under 18 like a certain someone seems to be acting right now.

I also wonder why people find my criticisms so demeaning. Were anyone to see the expressions on my face if I could say the things I post on boards in person, I would have a very monotone appearance. No yelling, no screaming, no excitedness, no anxiety attacks, nothing offensive.

But of course people have the mistake of putting me in the category of Psi&Co. from the WotC Boards, which I find highly offensive. I cannot display emotion on these boards and WotCs except for using CAPS, and even still that is not how I conduct myself.

I stated my reasons for disliking d20, people have stated their reasons why they like d20 products. I don't believe I should be attacked by d20-goers just because I dislike d20 third party products.

I place what I think, I don't sugar coat my thoughts on certain matters. I expect others on the boards to respect that considering I don't flame or bash anyone elses views. I simply bash things I don't like about the topics at hand, just like anyone else would if they did not like something.

I sincerely hope certain people understand this now, and maybe some will read my posts as not screaming&whining, but as a monotonous, blank-faced statements that is usually expecting debate on a mature level.

Thank you.

How do you know that? AFAIC, Jesse Decker did not do the Ninja class on behalf of Wizards R&D, just on his off-hours. It's the same with anybody who wants to write a magazine article or adventure, it's not part of Wizards of the Coast job description.

Hey, it's been done at least, and not by Rokugan.

"Robbed us"?!?!!!

Dude, if anyone who is at fault here, it's Wizards. They CHOSE to put Rokugan in Oriental Adventures, even when they willingly sold the L5R/Rokugan IP to AEG. They CHOSE not to compete with AEG when they could via Kara-Tur. They CHOSE not to do anything Asian other than a few scattered Dragon magazine articles over the past three years. It's all Wizards.

I meant "robbed us" simply as an expression, not as a stated fact. I know WotC's truly at fault, I figured out the whole story on that one awhile back.

Ladies and Gents, Let's please lay off the personal attacks. There's no reason for them, and they stain the carpet something fiercely.

I have no idea what this means...

It means what it says. It did not feel right in my game to me nor my players. In our small gaming group we deem these things "unofficial" as WotC would deem them.

You play your games, I play mine.

Wow! Go figure!

You must hate WotC's OA, then, since Kara-Tur wasn't supported there, either... but, wait, it's a WotC book! But there's no support! But it's WotC! But...

I actually do hate OA. The more I look at it, the more I noticed more and more Rokugan-specific material was in it (instead of general or even Kara-Tur material) than I did when I first bought the book. And I don't consider it a WotC book anymore, not since they sold the license to AEG.

arnwyn said:
Actually, let me know when there's more support for epic-play from WotC...

Player's Guide to Faerun has some support for Epic play (even BoED and BoVD!). So does Races of Faerun (Elven High Mage prestige class), and even Draconomicon (epic feats) and Complete Warrior (epic feats), they all support it.

While I (personally) think most of your reasoning is completely out-to-lunch, I will note that I can't really bash you for your likes and dislikes - if you don't like something, you don't like something. Nothing wrong with that. (Maybe your reasoning is valid, but it's just difficult to communicate over a messageboard medium?)

(And I do believe that some of your criticisms of some of the products have merit - especially AEG's Dragons and the new Ravenloft stuff.)

Edit: typo.

Like I said, I did give d20 products a try so please give me that much credit compared to those who bash it and haven't really looked at one feat or prestige class from a d20 product. I tried, my gaming group and I didn't like it, so we moved on and made a creed like any gaming group would.
