Pathfinder 1E Paizo no longer publishing Dungeon and Dragon

And...so that makes it's okay to wait? For something you paid say...20 pounds for? Come on.

you might be able to but I bet the rest of the world isn't too thrilled by that prospect.

Some idiot at the BBC actually canceled Doctor Who once. Then when the idiot was gone, the show came back.

We can only hope the same thing will happen for Dragon and Dungeon magazines.

Until then, they'll be getting some letters.

I started reading & buying Dragon issues back in 1982 or so and will miss it greatly. Paizo did an amazing job with both Dragon and Dungeon and I will DEFINITELY be picking up a subscription to Pathfinder.

In fact, I'm even more psyched about Pathfinder than either Dragon or Dungeon because Pathfinder can't reference the multitudinous WotC sourcebooks in the way that both Dungeon or Dragon did. Also its material, by necessity, will have to be more setting-neutral than before... meaning that more DMs will be able to cherry-pick materials with greater ease.

I canceled my Dungeon subscription (with regret) because I got sick of D&D 3.5, and its endless rule addenda, and had little interest in running D&D in its latest incarnation. Now that I've moved on to Castles & Crusades (which has reinvigorated my enthusiasm for gaming) I look forward to converting Pathfinder content to C&C.

Good luck Paizo!

Gneech,

That's assuming the people at WotC management care to READ letters. :p

CPerkins,

Glad you're chipper. But me, I'm bitter and closeminded. :p ;)

Although I never subscribed to them or read them regularly, I'm still sad to see these magazines go, because they enhanced D&D's presence in comic book stores and FLGSs, created a sense of community, and served as a platform for some top-notch illustrators and writers. These publications' most important message from a marketing angle was, "See, this game is big enough to have two magazines". You'd think it would be worth taking a loss on them just to keep the brand name out there.

I feel like someone that I know just died.

It is the same 'punched in the gut' feeling. I absolutely loved Dungeon and Dragon magazine under Paizo, Dungeon in particular.

It was one of the few things in my life I really got to look forward to in my life, my month mags from Paizo, ...

I guess I will get goon-faced drunk tonight and lament the passage of a era....

QFT

Anybody who can't wait an hour for gratification is exactly the type of person that should wait an hour for gratification…

WotC pulls their licenses from their best print publisher.

WotC continues to give licenses to horrible, 1/2 completed, video games.

I don't understand.

Can't wait to see how the WotC Digital Initiative does. I bet they even forgot to give it Improved Initiative. The probably gave it Toughness. Here's betting this deal leaves WotC Flat-Footed. Let's just pray Paizo takes advantage and lands a Sneak Attack with Pathfinder!

D&D's downfall....what a pile of crap. Give it a rest. This brand - this goodwill - is worth money and is not going anywhere. Were Hasbro to go bankrupt tomorrow - it would be snapped up by a bidder in 60 days.

There is no downfall - except what these bozos are determined to make of it.

Its IP that was the creation of others. It's not going away. If it wasn't profitable enough - Habro would sell it to the top bidder, in a New York Minute.

Frankly, this plea to be nice and give the new online gig a fair shot comes off as sycophantic whinging.

(Yes - it really does Razz.)

Couldn't have put it better myself. :D
