I was initially skeptical of letting my wallet doing the talking, but after considering the issue for a while, I've come to realize that there is actually very little that WotC offers that I absolutely need. I got to thinking, "You're heading off to college in a few months, and certainly will be strapped for cash."

I'll say one thing - no longer having to spend $40 on a WotC book every 3-4 months means my subscription to Pathfinder will practically be free.

I excitedly look forward to this new product. Paizo crew, you have my support!

Well after having read / scanned most of the 17 pages so far I don't really have anything new to say, but wanted to put my thoughts out here too.

"Ouch!! that hurt, you bastards!!" (trying to catch breath after being kicked)

I like many other have been reading Dragon since shortly after I started playing and Dungeon off & on. I currently have a subscription to both. They both will be missed.

I'm not sure which option I'm going to take, but I do want the thank the people at Pazio for having a plan ready when they made the announcement and giving us multiple options to chose from. This is the way to do business in this type of industry.

As for WotC, who really knows or cares at this point, I've not been thrilled with the pay-per-play eletronic format thats been talked about and as said before think its pretty sad they don't even have a sample to go with the shot to the gut they just delivered to help easy the change.

By sales rate you mean they would reduce the price AFTER the first couple sales? Yeah I thought that too. Seems though they think for some reason it can't turn a profit unless it's at full price.

Referring to the 30% discount rate they had when DriveThruRPG / RPGNow finally put WotC content back up last month.

I'd buy the PDFs at that rate regularly. But at full price when I can get 10-30% off for a printed version via Barnes & Noble or Amazon AND free shippipng? Yeah, not likely to get those full-price PDFs...

As far as 'betrayal', no. I've expressed myself a few times here. This is the world of business. Do I think it's 'smart' business? No. I do think that this is terrible news but it's hardly the worst thing to even happen today. Well, to most people.

I really hope that we don't hear about some gamers killing themselves over the cancellation of these two magazines, but some of the posts here have me wondering...

I must have missed that but they don't have that now and even with other products, currently, they aren't 10-30% off.

But yeah that was my point and I doubt that will change much when the subscription cost comes into play for the electronic thingie.

well, I haven't subscribed for a couple of years now, but the news still sucks. Sadly, I've lost most of my collection of both magazines during several moves... but I did manage to hang onto the issues that I had articles in... :\
