Paladin / Cleric Turning stack?

Just wondering... I looked over the books, but I guess I missed it (surprise).
Does paladin / cleric turning levels stack, or do you have to keep up with it two different ways.

They stack (of course, at -2 levels because the paladin gains the "turn undead"ability as a cleric two levels lower).

This follows the general rule that if two identical abilities exist in two classes and progress by level, then the ability uses the combined levels of both classes.

It works well when you read most PrCs, which stack. The way they're written almost screams that the Paladin and Cleric stuff stacks as well.

Plus, if it's from the same god (it better be), I don't think he wants to wast his time trying to dish out two different things for one guy? The gods have more impotant things to do, like stopping Vecna's new plot.

There's the IC perspective anyway.

I of course bow to your knowledge, but I need the page referances... not all DM's take the people playing under them as cannon.

I am looking through my books again, but not finding :/

Some DMs want proof of everything. Well, w/o my books handy, I can only recomend the PrCs I mentioned above. I'm sure one of the other ubsessed peoples will have the answer for you though.

[Edit: Added the following:]

Cannon? I'm just a USA guy here. Don't get that.

Page 56 in the PHB under Class Features:

"In the special case of turning undead, both clerics and experienced paladins have the same ability. If the character's paladin is level 3 or higher, her effective turning level is her cleric level plus her paladin level minus 2. Thus, a 5th-level paladin/4th-level cleric turns undead like a 7th-level cleric."

In other words, yes they stack.

I think what he meant was "canon."

\Can"on\, n. [OE. canon, canoun, AS. canon rule (cf. F. canon, LL. canon, and, for sense 7, F. chanoine, LL. canonicus), fr. L. canon a measuring line, rule, model, fr. Gr. ? rule, rod, fr. ?, ?, red. See Cane, and cf. Canonical.] 1. A law or rule.
