Paladin of Bahamut

I've one more question. I believe normal D&D 3e goes to 20th level, so that would explain why every buddy sais sor1/pal9/drag.dec10 and not sor5/pal15/drag.dec10. I know it is possible though to pass the 20 levels. How does that work?

As Alzrius said most of that is coverd in the Epic Level Handbook (ELH), but to follow on your theme, the character I am playing (almost 21st level now) will start taking more levels in Paladin up until he hits Sor1/Pal20/DrD10 (assuming we get that far) making him a 31st level character. On the other hand I could start taking more levels in sorcerer (stopping me from any more levels in paladin) or use the WoTC Web Enhancement for the Dragon Disciple to take more levels in that. The ELH basically covers gaining levels after 20th to infinity, in whatever classes you want to take. The reason most people are saying Sor1/Pal9/DrD10 is that by getting 1 level of Sorcerer you effectively gain the hardest requirements for Dragon Disciple (to be able to spontaneously cast arcane spells), and IMO going up further as a sorcerer is pretty much a waste of time as you won't get many more spells.

About the dragon deciple. He gets no spells of his own right? Just the bonus spells, which he can add to his paladin spells or sorcerer spells.

And what about base attack. A level 9 paladin would have 2 attacks per round. The dragon deciple only shows one attack per round. how does that work?

ummm, what?

Just like all the classes the BAB bonus is added to your total to figure out how many attacks you get. A Sor1/Pal9/Drd10 ends up with 4.

DragDisc "Bonus Spells" can only be added to Sorcerer spells per day. So, you'll be able to cast True Strike around 10 times per day! That's a nifty ability for a Paladin with a high Strength and the Power Attack Feat. :-)

You need to reread the description. It very specifically says, "any spellcasting ability you already posess," and definitively includes all spellcasters. Take the right class combo, and you could boost wizard or druid spells with it.

(In any case, your method left bards out in the cold. It's not like they get enough attention anyway, is it?)

Erp! You're right! Bards (or any other spontaneous arcane caster) should be allowed to use DragDisc bonus spells.

When a dragon desciple gets large, I assume he doesn't get the ability modifiers that a creature normally gets according to the monster manual? That is, other then the ones the class gives him.

This is somewhat broken. Imagine a Sorc1 / Pal14 / DragDisc 5, who can cast Holy Sword 4 extra times per day! Merp!

PS: Lumen, the T&B listing of DragDisc tells exactly what Enlargement does -- and the ability modifiers are integrated into the class progression.

The official sage ruling was yes, then no. Figure that one out. His final clarification was "You get exactly what's listed in the description, nothing more." This includes... the penalties, and the size increase to large. Some argue that the dragon disciple's final +8 str includes the enlargement bonuses already, failing to account for the part where the half-dragon template already grants +8 str but no size increase. Public opinion over on the WotC boards seems to have settled on "allowing it makes the DD very powerful but not quite broken, disallowing it makes the DD way too weak." It really comes down to where your DM thinks the DD should fit in the power scale. ;)

IMHO, the Enlargement part is silly -- just give the guy wings if he wants 'em, and let him stay the same size.
