Palladium system to d20 conversions: heads up on a possible copyright problem

First Post
Hey yall, I was browsing this thread:
http://enworld.cyberstreet.com/showthread.php?s=&postid=440280#post440280
in the D20 System Games forum.

Palladium books has a strict 'no d20 conversions of our material may be posted on the web' policy. Just wanted to give you a heads up, to avoid a possible issue with a C&D letter from PB.

See article #89 of their FAQ:
http://www.palladiumbooks.com/questions/reqgen.html
for the statement about D20 conversions.

And their internet policy page:
http://www.palladiumbooks.com/policies.html
For their thoughts on their claimed right to limit derivative work.

Not trying to be a pain for the guys in that thread, I liked the material, but I figured this should be brought to your attention, so you can be prepared for whatever may happen.

Anyone have any idea why Palladium is so opposed to such d20 conversions? Or why Maryann Siembieda left Palladium? (Note: I'm not looking for gossip or anything, just wondering what happened.)

i'm not sure, Chun-tzu, but i do know Palladium has always been opposed to game coversions of their system

IIRC, Maryann popped in on ENWorld once (a while back) to ask posters directly not to participate in any conversions

(Hmm... Didn't they already bring this up a couple months ago, or was that a different company...?)

Anyway - thanks for the heads-up, Rich. :)

/me sits down in a corner and waits for Russ or Eric to take care of this issue. ;)
