Paragon Path names revealed by Jonathan Tweet!

wizard/spellstorm mage
Goodish. Only great if it actually involves weather patterns; if it's just "I toss a lot of spells", bad use of adjective.

fighter/iron vanguard
Great!

ranger/battle archer
Ew.

warlord/battle captain
Ew. But not as bad as the other ew.

paladin/astral weapon
Great! So long as it's Astral Weapon of Athena, as said above.

As for "Iron Vanguard" vs. "Vanguard," the answer's simple. Paragon paths, like PrCs in prior editions, are meant to represent specializations. "Vanguard" is way too general a term (to say nothing of the fact that using it now means the term is unusable for any other related or similar paths later).

I think it's vital for paragon paths to have names that are unique and unmistakable.

That said, while I'm fine with some of the names, I do agree that "battle archer" and "astral weapon" could use a bit of tweaking.
Howzabout:

Battle Archer -> Bow Initiate
Astral Weapon -> Weapon of Divinity

...and here we have another example of "why haven't they hired Klaus over at WotC yet?" I mean you can come up with decent names, and I'll bet have some great art of sample characters following those paths as well.

Well, Order of the Bow Initiate was a PrC published by WotC, so don't give him too much credit there.

DM: The shadow demon begins to laugh as he calls upon his his spectral panthers to attack.

BC: "Iron Vanguard your motivation is running low, shall I pin your opponent?"
IV: "Yes, Battle Captain, pin them now so they will not move and thus you will grant me a bonus to attack. Spellstorm Mage , what do you plan to do?"
SsM: "I shall shoot them with my 11th level spell of flaming wrath then I will shift behind Astral Weapon."
AW: "By the powers of love, beauty, strength and justice! I shall Heal the Iron Vanguard's motivation to fight by granting him a healing surge! You do not have to fear being brought down to negative hit points this round, for evil shall not prevail!"

My god... 4e is becoming anime....

Meh, names don't bother me one way or the other. I almost never use the names from the books, especially not class names.

Probably the only name I ever take are basic weapon and armour names, ie: breastplate, longsword, etc. and Humans. Only names I use throughout all my campaigns, and the occasional God name if it fits with the setting (though that God is usually completely different).

Good luck to Necromancer Games getting a 1st Ed. feel with THIS material.

I don't see how names would affect the feel, if it plays and thus feels like 1st edition, then how do names affect that. Names are simply a way for us to more easily identify stuff in the rulebooks nothing more, nothing less.
