Ivellios was a shipwright who created the vessels his people used to cross the sea to the island home of their Eladrin cousins. He was also an accomplished student of bladesong, which he practiced with as much passion and dedication as he did his craft.

Patty Hulder
NG Stout Halfling Folk Hero, Bard (College of Valor)
STR: 8 DEX: 16 CON: 14
INT: 12 WIS: 14 CHA: 14
Lucky
Skills: Animal Handling, Medicine, Performance, Persuasion, Survival
Tools: Drum, hurdy gurdy*, lute, vehicles (land), woodcarver’s tools
Languages: Common, Halfling

An inspiration to young halflings everywhere, Patty traveled the world in search of new people, new places, and new stories to tell in the local halfling communities wherever she went. In doing so, she hoped to bring the world to those who might never have the chance to see it, and to instill in her people the courage to do the same. Despite her renown, Patty never lost sight of her own humble origins, always taking the opportunity to help the small communities where she played in any way she could.

*I know it’s not on the list in the PHB, I don’t care, it’s the best bard instrument, fight me

Gonna take a bit longer to workshop the narrative bits for the Uncommon folk (I didn’t do a human one). I have the concepts in my head, but I want to make them sound nice before posting them.

A quick list:

Dwarven Rune Knight, Clan Crafter
Halfling Peace Domain cleric, Folk Hero
Wood Elf Eagle-Elk totemist, Outlander
High Elf Bladesinger, Far traveler
Human Monster Slayer, Archeologist
Gnome Arcane trickster, Guild Artisan
Tiefling Fiend Warlock, Haunted one
Dragonborn Dragon sorcerer, Acolyte
Half-orc Tempest Cleric, Soldier
Half-Elf Valor Bard, City Watch

Back in 4e, my first campaign was very POL and had the legends of the paragons of each race somewhere out there

If I were to do it in 5e, it would be

  • Dwarf
    • Duergar Clan Crafter Psi Knight Fighter
    • Hill Soldier Battlemaster Fighter
    • Mountain Noble Champion Fighter
  • Dragonborn
    • Chromatic Dragonborn Dragonic Sorcerer of their Color
    • Metallic Dragonborn Knight Paladin of Glory
  • Elf
    • Drow Criminal Assassin Rogue
    • High Elf Sage Wizard of Bladesinging
    • Wood Elf Outlander Hunter Ranger
  • Gnome
    • Forest Gnome Outlander Wizard of Illusion
    • Rock Gnome Guild Artisan Artillerist Artificer
  • Half Elf
    • Half Elf Entertainer Glamour Bard
  • Halfling
    • Lightfoot Halfling Urchin Thief Rogue
    • Stout Halfling Folk Hero Valor Bard
  • Half Orc
    • Half Orc Hermit Totem Warrior Barbarian of the Wolf Totem
  • Human
    • Normal Human Gladiator Swords Bard
    • Variant Human Spy Paladin/Warlock of the Oath of Vengeance and Hexblade Pact of the the Blade.
  • Tielfing
    • Tielfling Charlatan Fiend Warlock of the Chain

I would make one of the dwarves a cleric but dwarves would want their cultural hero to be an underoptimized fighter FOR TRADITION!

Confining myself to just the peoples in the PHB:

Human Paladin, Oath of Devotion, Folk Hero
Mountain Dwarf Artificer, Battlesmith, Guild Artisan
Hill Dwarf Ranger, Gloom Stalker, Soldier
High Elf Wizard, College of Enchantment, Sage
Wood Elf Druid, Circle of Dreams, Hermit
Dark Elf Cleric, Twilight Domain, Acolyte
Lightfoot Halfing Rogue, Thief Expert Treasure Hunter, Noble
Stout Halfling Rogue, Swashbuckler, Sailor
Dragonborn Sorcerer, Draconic Bloodline, Outlander
Forest Gnome Fighter, Psi Warrior, Knight
Rock Gnome Artificer, Alchemist, Guild Artisan
Half-Elf Bard, College of Glamour, Entertainer
Half-Orc Barbarian, Zealot, Soldier
Tiefling Warlock, Pact of the Fiend, Charlatan

I too am a Dragon Age fan! I especially love everything about their dwarves, their religion, the Deep Roads, etc.
The title of this thread also came across as a Dragon Age reference, though I wasn’t sure if it was intentional. I love Dragon Age, a fair bit of my homebrew world building takes inspiration from it. The biggest one being that the relationship between elves and eladrin in my world mirrors that between the Dalish and the ancient elves.

I really can't think of an official race that would have a cleric as a cultural paragon.
Actually my tiefling paragon concept is. Again, looking at it from the perspective of “what do these people value and who would they look up to?” instead of “what’s the most iconic way to play this race?” I figured tieflings would probably not idealize fiend pact warlocks. That seems like a reputation they would want to get away from. So, I went with cleric instead. Same reason I avoided rogue for halflings.
