So I have a lot of friends and family about my age who are parents now and it got me thinking that parent is just as much a background as sailor or soldier. So I tried my hand at making a parent background. Take a look at let me know what you think about it. Thanks!

Lots of clever elements here. I like that you can babysit for favors. Too few adventurers talk about dirty diapers in between the ale and the whores, IMO.

My favorite thing is the potential hook about the parent's children. A lost child can easily be a motivation for an adventure and even if the child is safe in the custody of whomever, in the face of world shattering events nothing is safe. I'd love the idea of just saying X baddies are going to Y location, and see the party mobilize. Sadly, I feel like my players would be too young to be interested in this background.

Opportunities for a campaign - Scott Evil from Austin Powers, just flipped (LG paladaddy of Bahamut has a son who turns to the dark side whilst dad is out there smiting the goblins...Lone Wolf and Cub style babycart of death...
I'm not sure on the parent gossip feature but like the advantages of befriending the hood rats erm I mean adorable urchins you come across for news.
I wonder if Parent could/should be an additional Bond though - as folk are not just parents but soldiers, priests, criminals, singers, shopkeepers, etc, at the same time.

My first thought was that this was a going to be a joke background. But it's so good! And useful! The "go to a tavern" routine is so old I can't believe you've actually found a way to spice it up.
