Parents: What cartoon/character/movie/song are you sick of?

I can't stand Caillou. One of the most annoying shows on PBS if you ask me.
Boo-Bah doesn't annoy me so much as weirds me out.

Gah! Caillou must die!

I can't stand any show that treats kids like they're stupid. For those who haven't had the misfortune of seeing it, this show includes a smarmy narrator who TELLS you what Caillou is feeling, even though it's obvious to even a 2-year-old from the events in the story.

"Caillou felt sad that his hamster exploded." "Caillou was happy that he didn't get any hamster guts on him." "Caillou was a whiny little git!" (Ok, that last one was mine).

Whew. I feel better. :)

I'm not sure if this counts, because I don't let my kids watch it if I catch them doing it, but I despise "Ed, Edd, and Eddie". Those kids act like a combination of "Beavis and Butthead" and "Jackass", only with no warning that they're doing anything you (a kid) shouldn't do. Ugh.

Stuff I hope goes away before my son grows up:

- Dragonball, any version;
- Ed, Edd and Eddy;
- Yu-Gi-Oh;
- Pokemon (talk about milking a cow to death);
- Power Rangers, any version;
- Barney;
- Teletubbies;

And this one probably only brazilians will know:
- Xuxa. Sure, she used to be hot, but now she just gets on my nerves!

Stuff I hope my kid gets to watch and like:
- Sagwa, the Chinese Siamese Cat;

Wow, Xuxa is still on? Actually anyone who's Hispanic will know her, not just Brazilians. She had a wildly popular Spanish language version of her show, which I think only lonely adult men actually watched.

I'm actually not that sick of anything; my kids pretty much watch TV in the basement. Of course, the side effect is that I'm often not sure what they are watching, but every time I check, it's stuff like Teen Titans, or Atomic Betty, or TNMT, or something like that, so I don't worry too much. Besides, I know my kids well enough to trust them not to watch anything I wouldn't want them to.

I love Teen Titans! My 9 year old son got me hooked, and no I cannot explain how this happened. We watch it together and laugh at the same things which is a lot of fun.

My kids have pretty good tastes for ages 2, 4 and 6. We get our fill of Elmo, the Wiggles, and other crap, but they prefer just about anything Pixar. I think they would watch the Incredibles trailers on the computer for hours if I would keep replaying them. "Where is my super suit!"

They actually dislike Ed, Edd and Eddie, and the Rugrats, of which I am glad. I got them into Looney Tunes, but Cartoon Network rarely shows them any more. So I just got the Looney Tunes DVD collection for my birthday, and we watch cartoons together whenever we want.

That's all, folks.

My wife and I are big sci-fi geeks (go figure! ;)) so we have a bunch of shows we watch on DVD. Duncan loves Highlander (doesn't hurt the main character has the same name as you!), Star Trek: Voyager and Stargate.

It was funny because the actor who plays the doctor on Voyager, Robert Picardo, guest starred on Stargate. Duncan saw him and said "Doctor." :D

Xuxa now is targetting the 3-year-old crowd with lame repetitive songs that'd make Barnet's eyes bleed...

My sister is 9, and when she was younger we would go through the cycles of watching movies over and over and over again. Anytime something is rented from blockbuster, you can bet it will be on the TV at least 12 times before it goes back.

Fortunately, my parents are more lax with the movies she can watch than when I was her age. As much as I am sick of "Agent Cody Banks" and "Charlie's Angels," I don't mind the repeats of LotR, X-Men, Ever After, Holy Grail, etc. I'll make an outstanding dork out of her yet.

And as sick as I am of Charlie's Angels, I highly recommend it to anyone with young girls (9-14). There's not much language, and it shows a group of strong women who kick butt and still manage to dress like Barbie. A small girl's dream world.

This is half the reason why we, as a family, haven't watched regular television in five years. We cut off the cable, and don't even bother with rabbit ears for the networks.

We've got our DVD player, and our VCR, and about ten cubit feet of video library. I know exactly what my kids are watching, and I never have to put up with commercials.

Plus, we spend a lot more time reading, playing in the yard, playing board games, just plain goofing around and other generic 'quality time' stuff.
