Pathfinder 1E [Pathfinder] Planning on switching to Pathfinder?

I've not seen or heard anything about Pathfinder that'd make me switch to it instead of continuing to use my 3.x books.

Nope, no plans on playing Pathfinder. I run games for two groups, and play in another, and every group is sticking with 4e, with no interest in Pathfinder. Honestly, its not different enough from 3e (which was every group's least preferred version of D&D) for us to give it a shot. Thats cool though, Pathfinder isn't aimed at people like me.

Switching? No.
Willing to play? Yes.
Willing to DM? NO.
Adapt Golarion for a 4e campaign? Maybe.

These posts sum up my feelings pretty good. I find DMing 4e very liberating after running 3.x for eight years, and wouldn't like to get back to that toiling experience.

Furthermore, I don't plan on buying the PFRPG book. The idea of reading a, what, 400+ pages rulebook without the clear intent of running it is bringing tears to my eyes. And those aren't tears of joy...

I'm just one of those guys PF isn't aimed at.

The Player's Guide and Campaign Guide are free for both versions of War of the Burning Sky, so I have them for both editions. I found the material in the 4e Player's Guide to be somewhat worrying in terms of their grasp of 4e mechanics.

Fair enough! Thank you for clarifying.

I remember that I ran the Mongoose Drow War and it was a terrible read, but an awesome play experience. So I don't judge anything until I run it a bit.

I've always wondered about that one. I was hoping this thread would lead to some comments about it. Why the difference between reading and playing it, do you think?

I would love to try running Burning Wheel or Savage Worlds for this very reason. I think the rules would be great for a change of pace.

I've had great experiences with one of those! I've also played Burning Wheel. :erm:

My multi-year Scarred Lands game is winding down, and everyone is extremely hyped to play one of Paizo's APs using the Pathfinder RPG rules. We collectively looked at 4th ed and said "nice game, it's kinda like D&D" and haven't bothered to take a second look.

No, pathfinder looks like a nice new improved 3.5. But I 4E fits my vision of what D&D is all about. Looking at pathfinder example characters made my head spin.

I wish them luck, but I really want them to kick out a couple of 4E adventures.
