One thing about Dragon PC's is that they are really sort of like Barbarians with a template.

Dragons have d12 hit dice and +1 BAB per Hit Dice and 6 skill points per level
Barbarians have d12 hit dice and +1 BAB per Hit Dice and 4 skill points per level

So, some similarities. Then Dragons have all sorts of extra abilities and they don't have the extra Barbarian abilities. But their extra abilities is why they have high ECL.

That, and they get all strong saves. The single best hit die in the game.

And six natural attacks at near their full BaB, and bonuses to stats and natural armour, and spells.

I do like the idea of the dragon so I hope you won’t abandon it do to the lack of spell casting. As mentioned before you could always take the leadership feat. :) I have more than a few levels before I'll see a feat or I would think about doing it myself.

Weulp, it's a bit late for that now. I quickly became disillusioned with the whole dragon thing, so I just put up my second attempt. As before, I'm not quite done, I know I've neglected to work out hit points so far, but apart from that I don't think there's much more work to do on him apart from background.

Well, you get to make him 21st level, which gives you a fair bit of cash to play with and your very first epic feat.

Might I recommend another level of Fighter so you can take TWO epic feats! :D

I don't remember what the prereq's are but might I recommend Spellcasting Harrier and Dire Charge. :o

I don't believe the fighters bonus feats become epics in till you become an epic level fighter but I will admit I could be wrong.

For an example: Say Brystasia had to more levels and then decided to become a fighter at 21 levels that bonus feat would only be non-epic feats. Right? If not it might have to change my preplanned progression some.

fighter level has to be 21+ in order for bonus feats to be epic feats. However, every pure class now offers epic feats at level 21+, and PRCs offer epic feats at level 11+.

I believe that the only requirement for Epic feats is that one be Epic- defined as level 21+. The ELH lists off a number of feats a Fighter feats and Epic feats. John's character meets both qualifications. We'll see what the DM thinks (lord knows fighters need all the help they can get at high levels).
