Penumbral Pentagon, You got questions, I got the answers

Nightfall

Sage of the Scarred Lands
So whadda you SL freaks want to know? I can say the fortress is pretty sweet and laid out in an interesting fashion. Plus I think some will like the new monster, Whisp, in the back.

Well, the book is about a fortress.
Where is it located in Gehlspad?
Who runs the place?
Can it fit into the running serpent series?

Does it reveal any more information about the Scarred Lands that isn't available elsewhere?

Ysgarran.

Ygssaran,

That's the interesting thing. It's not just one location but FOUR, each connected by a special "shadow gate" that links them all. Dar'Tan's home is located in the Keldars. The other four have locations ranging from the Bridge city to the far east to Onteazu(sp) in the west. They also have access to the Bleak Savannah.

I think it could since Vesh is kind of a target by one of the new Penumbral Lords. He has a special interest in it, since he's an unhallowed Priest formerly of Madriel.

It does reveal a little more of the reasonings behind shadow magic, some interesting ideas about a good god's "dark half" and also some insights into various personalities that serve the Penumbral Lords. Oh and also a possible reason for the destruction of the Empire of Elz.

Voad, somewhat but mostly it is just hints, and very little new or substantive.

Given the nature of the material I'm assuming they reprinted thed PL PrC, assuming I'm correct in this, have they fixed and clarified it?

Sadly they don't reprint it, nor do they have a revision of it. However in related text, one of the Penumbral Lords, Sutane Terk, has a new 8th level ability, shadow gateway which he can teach other Penumbral Lords when they reach 8th level in the class. This allows them to create gateways that can reach from one doorway to another. However it's not a permanent gateway, just a passageway that is longer lasting than say shadow stepping.

I'll have to look this one up at work tomorrow so I can add this one to my collection. This one took me by surprise, I need to look at the release schedule more often. Thanks for the heads-up there buddy.

So, the cartography is good?

How many levels does the fortress have?
