[Perry Rhodan] History and Cosmology

Knight Otu

First Post
Those of you who visit the House Rules forum have propably seen my Perry Rhodan thread, and might have even taken a look at it. And maybe it sparked some interest in the Perry Rhodan universe in you (always optimistic ;)). In this thread, I will post overviews of the universe and answer questions regarding it (if any questions come at all ;)).

Perry Rhodan is a weekly science fiction novel series from Germany, which has started in 1961 and since then has built a vast background that includes both science fiction themes and mystic themes. In this thread, I'll post overviews of the Perry Rhodan universe, and answer any questions regarding this universe. Most of the first overviews will be reposts from my Perry Rhodan thread on the old boards. You can find the house rules part of the old thread here.
I will often write Terrans to talk about the inhabitants of earth, the immortals, and their allies, even though they are not neccessarily terrans, or even humanoid. I do this for simplicity, not to exclude them. I hope you understand that. While I could call them galacticians, this term is not really appropriate most of the time, so I do not use it.

Repost from the old boards:
The following is an overview of the cosmology of the Perry Rhodan universe:

The Perry Rhodan cosmology mostly consists of the struggle between the Powers of Order and Chaos. The most powerful entities known of each side are the Cosmocrats and the Chaotarchs.
Their genesis is outlined below, using the so-called onion layer model.

The onion-layer model is a model of the evolution of intelligence in the Perry-Rhodan-universe. Thinking about an onion, the innermost layers represent the primordial matter. Nearer to the first layer, there come primitive life forms, such as bacteria, then animals and then intelligent races that have not yet left their home planet. Interplanetar space travel is the next step, then interstellar, and up to intergalactic space travel. Interuniversal travel is rare. The next step is becoming a super-intelligence.

A super-intelligence is often a bodyless being of pure thought that is created from the minds of whole races, controlling several galaxies. These galaxies form the power center(translation?) of the super-intelligence.

The primary measure for the power of a super-intelligence, however, is the amount of knowledge and wisdom it has achieved. This allows them to extrapolate current
events to almost accurately predict the future.

Super-intelligences are classified as being either positive or negative. This has nothing to do with good or evil, however: Positive super-intelligences form almost
symbiotic relationships with the races in their power center, while negative super-intelligences exploit them in a parasitic manner. Ultimately, a super-intellience is
drawn to the next layer of the onion. They concentrate the galaxies of their power center into a small spot and merge with them into a matter spring if they are
positive, or a matter sink if they are negative.

The terrans have met or heard about several super-intelligences in their history, but the most imporant of them is certainly IT, which was met in the year 1975 on the
planet Wanderer. The planet Wanderer takes the form of a flat earth, and shows stars from an unknown galaxy. IT granted Perry Rhodan and several of his friends
immortality in the form of a cell shower after passing several tests, mainly in the Wega system. The cell shower a device which dematerialized the user for an hour.
When he emerged, his aging was halted for 62 years. Afterwards, it had to be renewed.
IT usually takes the form of either a glowing spiral, sphere or an old man, but other forms are possible. IT's home is the Local Group of galaxies, but it is not there in
the current timeline, because it aids the creation of a Thoregon, some kind of third way between order and chaos. IT's focus to the material world is the planet
Wanderer II. IT has chosen the dove as it's symbol, but his genesis (which was a secret for about 2900 years) shows that it could easily be the butterfly. IT and
ESTARTU, another super-intelligence, refer to each other as brother and sister, respectively.
During most of IT's history, IT seemed to be a loyal vassal of the Cosmocrats, but has actually plotted the creation of a Thoregon for most of it's life, which lasts for
about 18 Million years now.

The niveau of matter spring/matter sink is the highest niveau of intelligence that is known in the universe (Cosmocrats and Chaotarch are entities of the multiverse),
created in a process similar to the creation of a Black Hole. Few things are known about the workings of these entities. The matter springs create matter with
unknown means and "spread it out" in the universe, while the matter sinks are purely destructive: They do not return anything to the universe.

After an unknown span of time, the Matter Springs evolve into beings that, lacking a better word, are called Cosmocrats, while the Matter Sinks evolve into
Chaotarchs.

AFAIK, only one Matter Sink and one Matter Spring are commonly known, JARMINTHARA, the Matter Sink, and GOURDEL, the Matter Spring. Both of them can
be found in the galaxy Erranternohre, where they have gone due to commands from their respective sides during a battle between Order and Chaos in a nearby
galaxy about 3 million years ago. The galaxy that the battle took place in was destroyed, but it ended in a stalemate. Both sides lost two each of their most powerful
instruments: Chaos lost two Chaotenders, Order lost two Cosmic Factories.

Chaotenders appear as dark spheres of nothingness with a diameter of 36 kilometres, as "a dark hole that has achieved intelligence and mobility by unknown means,
and that now served as a mount for an entity that hid beneath the event horizon" (Translated quote from novel 1987, Der Mörderprinz (The Murderer Prince)).
Chaotenders are built and commanded by individuals called architects, eternals or Crux. Building one takes several millenia.

Most Cosmic Factories are pentagonal platforms that are 10 kilometres thick. Each side of the platform is 33 kilometres long. The Comsic Factories are commanded
by the Servants of Matter, individuals with powerful mental abilities. They come from various races, but they leave their body behind to enter that of a Maunari,
cyclopean creatures that are 6 metres high and almost unkillable. The main function of a Cosmic Factory is the capture of "Ultimate Matter" from the universal
quantum fluctuations.

Cosmocrats and Chaotarchs are the most powerful known entities of their respective side, as I have already said. Cosmocrats are said to live "beyond the Matter
Springs", whatever this may mean. Their mentality and their goals are virtually inscrutable to mortals, except that they try to influence the Moral Code (which can be
said to be some kind of genetic code of the Multiverse), just like their counterparts do. The Cosmocrats apparently strive to achieve some kind of Order and keep it
up for all time, while the Chaotarchs want to spread Chaos.

Both Cosmocrats and Chaotarchs act mostly through servants, though on rare occasions, one does manifest it's will within a universe. Known Cosmocratic
servants are the Knights of the Deep, the Servants of Matter, the Seven Mighty Ones with their Spore Ships and the Swarms.
Few Chaotarchic servants are known. The known ones are the Architects, the enigmatic Dark Birthes and the now-destroyed Decalog of Elements, which had it's
home in the so-called Negasphere, a place that was in a constant state of "decay" due to a manipulation of the Moral Code.

The Cosmocrats and Chaotarchs that the Terrans have heard about yet are:
Taurec and Vishna: These two Cosmocrats chose humanoid projections into the universe, although this severly limited their power (The so-called transform
syndrome). Taurec had the task to repair the damage that was done to the Moral Code. Vishna is an oddity: She had evolved from a Matter Sink into a Cosmocrat,
but later she went rogue because a Cosmocratic super-computer, the Empire of Viruses, refused to serve her.
Hismoon: This Cosmocrat manifests in this universe by burning out bodies of the Maunaris when he needs to. He tasked the Servants of Matter with the prevention
of Thoregons and the gathering of Ultimate Matter.
V'Aupertir, The Lord of Elements: This Chaotarch was the Master of the Decalog of Elements. He propably was not a real Chaotarch, as his genesis was different: He was
formed from the minds of the V'Aupertir, who are said to be the ancestors of all humanoid races of this universe. His existance was tied to the Negasphere, and he
sent the Decalog to prevent it's destruction. However, he was destroyed even before the Negasphere by a cosmocratic weapon, the Devolator, that caused his
de-evolution.
Xpomul: This Chaotarch manifests "within a massive column of black, cold flames. The actual shape is humanoid, big and lean. Except for his head, his body is clothed
in wide black clothes, above which he wears a black mantle that reaches the floor. A wide hood hides most of his face except for the eyes, everything else lies within

a seemingly unreal shadow. The eyes glow out of this shadow, big and round" (Translated quote from novel 2093, Requiem für einen Ewigen (Dirge for an Eternal)).
Xpomul tasked the Architects with the destruction of life in assorted galaxies and the manipulation of the Code of Evolution (The name of the Chaotarchs for the
Moral Code). Also, he seems to be responsible for the rebellion of the Seven Mighty Ones of a different universe.

There are groups and entities outside of the Chaos-Order sheme, who try to find a third way. Some of these are summarized here:
Si kitu: Although she is of the same status as Chaotarchs and Cosmocrats, Si kitu refers to herself as a dwarf. She opposes both the Cosmocrats and the
Chaotarchs as the "self-appointed" Power of Nothing, Keeper of the Second Law of Thermodynamics and Mother of Entrophy.
The Knights of Dommrath: Survivors of a devastating battle between Chaotenders and Cosmic Factories in Kohagen-Pasmereix, the Kimbanians founded the Order
of the Knights of Dommrath to keep their new home galaxy isolated from all external struggles while offering safety and comfort to those who live in Dommrath.
They fear that they might be drawn into a Thoregon and thus, into the viewpoint of the Cosmic Forces.
Thoregon and the Heliotes: Usually, a Thoregon is started by a Heliote approaching a super-intelligence and the super-intelligence stabilizing a PULSE, a region of
space where no quantum fluctuations are possible. Sometimes, multiple super-intelligences form a coalition to stabilize the PULSE, as IT does with five additional
super-intelligences. While Thoregons can take several forms, the Thoregon that IT and it's cooperators created has given itself the following agenda:
1. Thoregon protects life and culture of it's members
2. The individual is worth as much as the collective. The well-being of individuals shall not be sacrified for greater goals.
3. Thoregon battles for peace.
Heliotes appear as glowing balls of energy that radiate an aura of friendship. Their place within the onion-layer model is unknown.
The Cosmocrat Hismoon and Perry Rhodan have formed a treaty which forbids both the Cosmocrats and the Chaotarchs to influence the galaxies that joined the
Thoregon in any way, as long as the super-intelligences do not expand the PULSE. He said two interesting things to Perry Rhodan about this treaty:
"'Chaos, too, will honour this treaty' - 'How can you guarantee this?' - I guarantee it. That is enough. ... But listen, Rhodan, former Knight of the Deep, Sixth
Emmisary of Thoregon. You have bargained something with a meaning that is incomprehensible for you. You achieved a compromise whose backgrounds are not
accessible for you. ... After the retreat of Order and Chaos from the six Thoregon galaxies, things are going to become worse than anyone ever dared to dream. The
Millenium of Wars will begin!" (Translated quote from novel 1999, Der Puls(The Pulse)).

Repost from the old boards:
The history of the Perry Rhodan universe is often influenced by a group of people who has gained immortality as a gift from IT.

The most important of these immortals are Perry Rhodan, a terran (and the first man on the moon), and Atlan, an arkonid. Currently, this immortality is achieved by a device called activator chip or cell activator, halts the aging and prevents negative effects of cell division. It is also active against poison and disease. Should the activator chip, which is planted within the shoulder of the immortal, be stolen or somehow else get lost, the immortal has 62 hours to retrieve it before he dies due to accelerated aging. The current cell activators cannot be given to another person without proper readjustment. These cell activators are a gift from IT, a super-intelligence. Should an immortal die, the activator changes into the image of a spiral galaxy and returns to IT.

The current immortals are:
Perry Rhodan, Terran, American and the first man on the moon in the year 1971.
Atlan da Gonozal, Arkonid. The arkonids are a race of humanoids descendant of the lemurians, who in turn are the progenitors of most humanoid races in the milky way and andromeda. Atlan himself has lived on Earth for about 10000 years and secretly aided the humans, so that one day they might build starships and allow him to return to Arkon.
Reginald "Bully" Bull, Terran, American. He accompanied Perry Rhodan on his flight to the moon.
Julian Tifflor, Terran.
Homer G. Adams, Terran.
Icho Tolot, a Halutan. The Halutans are a race of huge, four armed humanoids with three eyes, two hearts and two brains. They can raise the density of their body so that it becomes stronger than steel and still move. Though they can be fierce and almost unstoppable warriors, they have become peaceful and mostly politically neutral as long as the galactic peace is not threatened.
Michael Reginal Rhodan "Roi Danton", Terran. The second son of Perry Rhodan.
Alaska Saedelaere, Terran. He was long known as the "man with the mask", since an accident caused his face to radiate a strange light that would permanently madden other people if they saw his face in full.
Gucky (engl. Pucky?), Ilt (Mousebeaver). The last of his race. The Ilts were a race of small creatures that looked like a mix between mice and beavers that walked upright. They possessed a high psionic potential: They always possessed telekinetic powers and had the potential for telepathy and teleportation. Gucky possesses all three powers.
Ronald Tekener "The Smiler", Terran
Dao-Lin-H'ay, Kartanin. The Kartanin are a race of humanoid felines. Originally from a different, dying universe called Tarkan("The Shrinking"), they immingrated into this universe in two steps. The first step brought a huge spaceship into this universe whose crew had the mission to properly prepare the second step: the transition of a whole galaxy into this universe! Dao-Lin is a descendant of Kartanin of the first wave.
Myles Kantor, Terran. Once crippled by an attempted assassination, his body was repaired when he gained his activator chip. He bears a tattoo of a spiral galaxy, which, as he has been told, is an indicator for the proximity of IT.
Monkey, Oxtornian. The Oxtornians are descendants of terran colonists who stranded on an extremely hostile world. With the aid of genetic engineering, they adapted to the world which received the name Oxtorne. They look mostly humanoid but have no facial hair and their skin is light brown. Monkey is further special as he has two camera lenses implanted to replace his lost eyes. He was a member of Section Zero of the TLS (the terran secret service) which was founded during the reign of a more radical First Terran (akin to the president), but never used.
Gaumarol da Bostich, Arkonid. He would not be an immortal, and in fact be the greatest enemy of Perry Rhodan, if it weren't for the existance of the super-intelligence SEELENQUELL (engl SOUL SPRING). He was the emperor of the Huhany-Tussan (Divine Empire), which was recently founded from the Gos-Tussan (Crystal Empire). He was first enslaved, then dropped by the young super-intelligence.
There are currently two free cell activators, carried by the emmisary of IT, Lotho Keraete, who is the only one who can adjust them.

The following informations were added by Sword Dancer:
In one Story Icho Tolot the first Halutean terran humanity encounters had to use his Primary brain(I believe) the calculator brain also called to get an solution against an swarm virus.
The knowledge was in his normal brain but when he had used thisa info the virus had been informed and reacted accordingly.

The sun worms were constructed or modified to serve as FTL Space ships.

<<I've snipped some lines here - Knight Otu>>

Section zero is akin to the double zero of James Bond their mission was to eliminate danger tor the LFT but was never in action.
Rumours they had only three members.

Oxtornians are the descendants of an colony shipwreck whose inhabitants found themselves on a world with 4,8 g with weather who takes an hurrican as a mild spring breeze.

Monkey is now the chief of the new USO(United Stars Organisation)
in the moment an resistence defensive organisation dedicated to fight Seelenquell and to free the arconidic empire from the yoke of him, before that they fought Gaumarol da Bostich with the same reason.

Gaumarol da Bostich isn`t only a simple villain.

Homer G. Adams is an economically genius to say the last, finance minister of the Solar Empire, President of the GCC Galactic Cosmicv Company.
Later the Chief of the resistance Organisation Widder and now the Chairman of the ORganisation Taxit.
A Trading Company who finance the new USO.

Repost from the old boards:
The following is a historical overview of the events that took place in the Milky Way:
Most dates are given in BC or AD, but from the year 3588, I will use NGT (New Galactic Time). 3588 AD is 1 NGT, and there is no official year 0. The current year is 1311 NGT.
For the first several dates, you can give or take two million years.

Actual dates not recorded, but before the other listed events: Rise and fall of the Tba, a multi-galaxy empire founded by shapeshifting races. Rogue servants of the cosmocrats, the loowers, hide a cosmocratic artifact, the Eye of Laire, on the third planet of a yellow sun with ten planets: on the earth.

approx 16.000.000 BC: A wandering spiritual being calling itself the Wanderer reaches the Milky Way and makes its home on earth. In the following millions of years, it evolves into the super-intelligence known as IT and creates the artificial planet Wanderer.

approx 12.000.000 BC: IT receives a visit from a heliote and decides to join a Thoregon. A part of him called Estartu is horrified by this and leaves IT. IT battles against the negative super-intelligence STROWWAN and tricks it into destroying itself.

approx 4.000.000 BC: IT receives two cell activators from a cosmocratic emissary. Also, destructive minds isolated by him rebel and form Anti-IT. IT and Anti-IT agree to resolve their battle in a "Cosmic Game of Chess" judged by the cosmocrats.

approx 2.000.000 BC: The porleytans, precedessors of the Knights of the Deep, retire to M3. They create "artifacts" from natural structures and retreat into them.

approx 1.200.000 BC: The Hordes of Garbesh, an army sent by the negative SI Seth-Apophis invade the Milky Way, but are repelled by a coalition of the natives of the Milky Way and a Knight of the Deep called Armadan of Harpoon. After his victory, Armadan takes precautions to defend the Milky Way should the Hordes ever return. His worst enemy, the horde leader Amtranik puts himself into stasis. The Suprahet, a titanic anti-matter creature passes through the Milky Way and destroys several clusters of stars before being stopped by the barkonids, a humanoid race descendant of the creators of the swarm, a cosmocratic tool for spreading intelligence along it's way.

approx 1.000.000 BC: The swarm passes through the Milky Way. Some of it's inhabitants rebel and take over the swarm, and the previous rulers, a race of shapeshifters called cynos flee into the Milky Way and prepare it for the swarm's eventual return. Barkon, the homeworld of the barkonids is pushed far outside the galaxy.

approx 200.000 BC: The humanoid cappins, who came from the galaxy Gruelfin (NGC 4594) perform genetic changes on the inhabitants of earth, creating centaurs, cyclopses and so-called pseudo-neanderthaleans, who are more intelligent than their counterparts. The actions of the cappins lead to the evolution of the lemurians.

approx 50.000 BC: The lemurian empire is destroyed by the halutans. The former fifth planet of the solar system is destroyed and forms the asteroid belt. The surviving lemurians scatter all about the galaxy and even flee to Andromeda. Somehow, thirteen lemurians get ahold of cell activators and form a tyrannical regime as the Masters of the Isle in both galaxies, but retreat from the Milky Way after some time. A hydrogen-breathing race native to Andromeda, the maahks, flees into the Milky Way. The halutans are turned into peaceful beings.

approx 20.000 BC: The akonid empire, direct descendants of the lemurians, suffer their worst defeat against the rebellious arkonids and decide to isolate themselves. The arkonids quickly forget their ancestors. IT grants several arkonid emperors immortality.

approx 8.000 BC: The arkonid crystal prince Atlan reaches the solar system. He punishes the unjust leader of the colony on Venus and resettles some colonists on earth. One continent on earth is given his name: Atlantis. Atlan receives his cell activator. The colonies in the solar system are later destroyed and Atlantis sinks into the ocean during a catastrophic battle. Atlan is trapped on earth. After devastating wars between the arkonids and the maahks, the latter flee to Andromeda and are thought to be extinct.

approx 2.600 BC: The pyramid of Cheops is built, with the Eye of Laire buried within.

1970-1971 AD: The Arkonids Crest and Thora Zoltral start an expedition to find the legendary Planet of Eternal Life, but crash land on the moon. Perry Rhodan meets them on the first flight to the moon and uses arkonid technology to unite earth.

1975 AD: Perry Rhodan finds the Planet of Eternal Life - Wanderer. IT says that the arkonids have failed in the 20.000 years he gave them, and gives the same chance to the terrans. Perry Rhodan and several other terrans obtain a limited form of immortality, the cell shower.

1982 AD: Perry Rhodan is sent to the barkonids on their home planet far in the void between the galaxies. Encouraged by his visit, they start the final phase of their old project to turn their planet into a spaceship, and to fly back into the Milky Way.

2040 AD: The Solar Empire is founded. Atlan appears. After several fights, he and Perry Rhodan become friends.

2103 AD: Perry Rhodan obtains his cell activator.

2326 AD: IT spreads 25 cell activators across the galaxy and destroys Wanderer to flee from the approaching swarm. The Suprahet threatens to awaken again, but is finally destroyed by remaining machines of the barkonids

2400 - 2406 AD: The halutan Icho Tolot appears and aids the terrans as they discover ancient solar transmitters that form a road to Andromeda. The terrans defeat the Masters of the Isle and learn about the lemurian empire. The planet Barkon is destroyed.

2512 AD: IT saves the shipwrecked terran Lotho Keraete. In the coming millenia, he is turned into a man made out of blue metal.

2909: During a crisis of the Solar Empire, four dictators obtain cell activators.

3430 - 3438 AD: The terrans learn about the manipulations of the cappins. The ganjasic cappin Ovaron becomes the friend of Perry Rhodan and later receives a cell activator. Pluto is destroyed during a battle against the takeric cappins as an intelligent weapon realises that it has been used for evil purposes and self-destructs.

3441 - 3443 AD: The swarm appears in the galaxy and spreads stupidity. A few immunes, as well as the cynos manage to retake the swarm and return it to it's original purpose.

3456 - 3458 AD: The battle between IT and Anti-IT reaches it's final turns. Anti-IT is banished into the "Nameless Zone" for breaking the rules several times.

3459 - 3460 AD: The Council of Seven, a multi-galaxy empire appoints Perry Rhodan to be the dictator of the Milky Way, who has no other option to accept, but works against the Council in secret. As a war against the Council seems to be unavoidable, Terra and Luna are teleported into a hidden system, but land in a far away galaxy by accident. The Solar Empire ceases to exist.

3585 AD: The Council of Seven is defeated. IT returns Terra and Luna into the Milky Way.

3586 - 3587 AD: The League of Free Terrans is founded. The loowers reappear and claim the Eye of Laire. UFOs appear in the galaxy and leak information about coming catastrophes for the Milky Way. As these catastrophes come by, both Armadans precautionary machines and the horde leader Amtranik mistake them for signs of the return of the garbeshian hordes. Armadans machines produce the orbiters, clones of seven pirates, to fight against the perceived hordes: all humanoids! Only Jen Salik, who for some reason obtained the powers of a Knight, can first appease the orbiters and then defeat Amtranik.

424 - 430 NGT: Seth-Apophis enslaves several individuals in the Milky Way. The strange Quiupu strifes to recreate something that he calls the Empire of Viruses. Perry Rhodan and Atlan are made into Knights of the Deep. The Galactikum is founded.
The Porleytans are freed from the artifacts that have become their prisons. The enigmatic Taurec appears. As the Empire of Viruses is completed, an incarnation of the rogue Cosmocrat Vishna appears and gains control of it. She draws earth and moon into the so-called Grey Corridor and sends the Seven Plagues. The strange shadow creature Chthon aids the Terrans against these plagues. Finally, the Terrans are incorporated into the Empire of Viruses.
Taurec, who reaches the deserted earth, meets Chthon, recognizes it as a part of himself and merges with it. He remembers his origin as a cosmocrat. He defeats Vishna and she turns to the side of the cosmocrats. They work together to repair some damage to the Moral Code and thus alarm the Forces of Chaos, who send V'Aupertir, the Lord of Elements and his Decalogue of Elements. Rhodan marries Gesil, an incarnation of Vishna.
A strange "Warner" sends his messages and says that the galaxy has to go a different, third way between Order and Chaos. Several of the Elements can be defeated or change sides. In an final, desperate act, Kazzenkatt, the Element of Direction, calls upon the Element of Darkness. This Element and the Empire of Viruses mostly neutralize each other in a strange battle. Kazzenkatt is drawn into the darkness and is presumably dead.
The Warner unveils himself as Sotho Tal Ker (soon shortened to Stalker), who claims to be an emissary of the SI ESTARTU. The Empire of Viruses split up into spaceships and offers them to the galacticians, many of whom suffer from a strange urge to leave the galaxy. Many of them head to ESTARTU, which is described by Stalker as a Paradise. The Lord of Elements is destroyed by a cosmocratic weapon. Perry Rhodan, Jen Salik and Atlan stop to serve the Cosmocrats, and Taurec banishes them from the local group of galaxies.
Stalker starts to teach the Upanishad, a mystical art of war, and starts to spread the philosophy of eternal conflict. However, he is replaced by the fierce Sotho Tyg Ian (Stygian) for his failure to spread the philosophy effectively. The two Sothos duel and Stygian emerges victorious, leaving Stalker behind as dead, but Stalker is saved and brought to a medical planet.

445 - 447 NGT: As the word spreads that "ESTARTU does not live here anymore", the warrior cult in ESTARTU and the Milky Way begins to crumble. Stalker reappears as Captain Ahab. The Nakks, a slug-like race from ESTARTU, confuse everyone with their enigmatic and opportunistic ways. One of them says: "There is no life except in Meekorah, for Tarkan, the Shrinking, only brings death". Rhodan and Atlan are allowed back in the Milky Way due to a sacrifice made by Salik.

448 NGT: The shattered SI ESTARTU is reformed, and the galaxy Hangay is transferred from the universe Tarkan into the "Standard-Universe". The shocks of this transmission cause a part of the Moral Code, the Cosmonucleotid DORIFER, to shut down, creating what will be called the Great Cosmic Catastrophe. A fleet of seven ships, the Tarkan Fleet, goes missing, with many immortals aboard.

approx 449 NGT: The One Hundred Years War begins. The Cantaro, humanoid cyborgs appear, and are enslaved by an individual that is very much later called Monos. Monos gains control over the galaxy with the aid of various masks.

approx 549 NGT: The Milky Way is "walled" by the Cantaro. The One Hundred Years War ends. Life standard in the Milky Way is reduced and clones are common. The Simusense Web is created on Terra. Strange phantoms start to steal cell activators.

approx 800 NGT: The Humanidrom, a titanic space station is built, bringing the planet that built it into financial ruin. It is later granted to the Nakks.

1143 - 1147 NGT: The Tarkan Fleet reappears after being held in stasis for almost 700 years. They join with rebels against the rule of the Cantaro, first outside, later inside the galactic walls. The phantoms strike more often to steal cell activators, for a total of 6 stolen activators. Monos reveals to be the son of Gesil and an unknown father. The Nakks join forces with the rebels, and Monos can be killed.

1169 - 1174 NGT: The Humanidrom becomes the seat of the Galacticum. IT reappears and commands the immortals to return the cell activators, believing that the 20.000 years IT gave them have passed. As it turns out, the phantoms that stole several cell activators were Nakks. IT gives the cell activators to linguids, a humanoid race that distinguished itself as capable peacemakers, but they turn into tyrants. Taurec is revealed to be the father of Monos and the source of IT's madness. The Nakks use the cell activators to heal IT and join IT. IT grants new cell activator chips to the old immortals and some new ones, including the strange humanoid Phillip. Two of the new cell activators find no bearers.

1200 - 1202 NGT: Two "Dead Zones", where no technology based on hyperspace functions, appear in the Milky Way, the first around the Solar System. Phillip reappears, along with him several members of his race, soon called Ennox. They are capable to enter the Dead Zone. After the first Dead Zone disappears, a second one shows up around Arkon. IT calls out for the "Mirror-Born", who shall be the bearers of the left-over cell activators. These are found in the twins Mila and Nadja Vandemar.

1206 - 1220 NGT: The Vandemar twins learn to utilize their psionic abilities. The terrans learn about the Arresum, the "other side of the universe", which is mostly dominated by the Abruse, a crystalline entity. Splinters of an Abruse space ship "infect" the planet Mars, which starts to crystallize. IT slows the process, which would over time affect the whole universe, but cannot stop it. The Hamamesh, a fish-like race appears and start building bazaars where they barter their wares for high-tech. These wares, despite being almost worthless, captivate their buyers, causing an addiction. In the Arresum, the Abruse is defeated by the Vandemar twins. The infected Mars is replaced by a planet from the Arresum, Trokan. The wares of the Hamamesh cease their captivating effect, and the Hamamesh return to their home galaxy Hirdobaan, saying that the galacticians can find more wares there. Billions of addicts start an oddysee to this galaxy. In Hirdobaan, a cosmocratic sporeship is created with the task to spread life in the Arresum. The addicts are healed. Rhodan is told that he has to enter the Bridge to Eternity, no matter how great the cost.

1222 - 1280 NGT: The arkonidean Crystal Empire is founded. After the rule of empress Ariga, who was assassinated, Gaumarol da Bostich ascends the throne as a mere figurehead. Many galactic races that are not of lemurian descent found the Forum Raglund, fearing the dominance of the two existing powers. Trokan is surrounded by a time lapse field, causing millions of years to pass during a year. Some immortals vanish.

1288 - 1289 NGT: As the time lapse field over Trokan ceases to exist, it reveals the civilization of the Herreach. A mushroom dome appears on Trokan and allows Perry Rhodan, Reginald Bull and Alaska Saedelaere to enter the Bridge to Eternity. They learn about something called the Coalition Thoregon. Goedda and her "children", cloned warriors, start an invasion of the Milky Way by command of a being named Shabazza. The Vandemar twins die during a mental fight against Goedda. During the fights agains Goedda, the Humanidrom is destroyed. Goedda can finally be defeated by luring her into the Central Black Hole, Dengejaa Uveso. The Nonggo, a member race of the Coalition, brings a "Heliotic Bulwark", a device which should allow transportation on a large scale, into the solar system, but due to sabotage, it malfunctions and explodes, stranding two city quarters in far galaxies. The orc-like Dscherro, brought to Terra by this malfunction along with their fortress ship GOUSHARAN, cause a huge devastation before GOUSHARAN can be destroyed. A heliote appears over Terra and brings the Terrans the Thoregon-Agenda. Terra officially joins the coalition. Emperor Bostich founds the new Galactikum on Arkon with the splendid city Mirkandol (Place of Meeting) as a first step to gain independence from his "advisors".

1290 - 1291 NGT: Shabazza is revealed to be a rogue shaper (a member race of the Coalition Thoregon) serving the cosmocratic servants Torr Samaho and Cairol the Second. These two command the Cosmic Factory MATERIA, tasked with the prevention of the Thoregon. To this end, Torr Samaho forces a battle with IT at Dengejaa Uveso. However, due to a timely warning by Lotho Keraethe, the new emisarry of IT, a temporary union of the mayor powers of the galaxy and the successful theft of some "Ultimate Matter", MATERIA can be destroyed, though Samaho survives. The Thoregon is successfully founded, but the cosmocrat Hismoon predicts a Millennium of Wars for it's members.

1303 - 1304 NGT: Bostich gets rid of his "advisors" and is now free to act. Several millions of mutants (people with psionic powers), the result of one of Monos' projects, appear. A mysterious being named Morkhero Seelenquell enthralls several people who usually die from an heart attack afterwards. Bostich forcefully expands his empire, and a first confrontation with Terra comes as he annects Hayok, a group of stars famous for it's industrial output. As the mutants learn that Monos' genetical program will cause them to die soon, they group together and found a city for their own. Bostich annects a terran colony, Ertrus, claiming the attack to be a retaliation. Zheobitt, an Ara (often called galactic medics) is tasked to heal the mutants. The mutants receive a mental call from a being that claims to be capable to heal them. Thinking it to be Morkhero, they gather enough power to call him to earth. The caller was Wrehemo Seelenquell, who has been robbed the Suit of Phantoms by his apprentice Morkhero (though Wrehemo had stolen it, too). He manages to control the mutants and track down Morkhero. On Arkon, he uses the Suit and the power of the mutants to become a super-intelligence: SEELENQUELL. He quickly enslaves the arkonid nobility, which has gathered to witness the foundation of the Divine Empire of Arkon. During a visit to Ertrus, Bostich is abducted by terrans and freed of SEELENQUELL's influence by Zheobitt. SEELENQUELL uses a robot to replace him and to declare war on Terra, which is swiftly taken by the arkonids and their surprise allies, the Posbi robots, who are enthralled, to. Mayor tactical blunders by SEELENQUELL allow the free galacticians to achieve several successes, among them the killing of Morkhero, as Zheobitt believes he can utilize his genome to heal the remaining mutants. Bostich obtains his cell activator from Lotho Keraete, but is warned that some of his plans are pure hybris. Zheobitt manages to heal the mutants without Morkhero's genetic information, but they loose their powers in the process. The allied galacticians free Terra and Ertrus and then turn to Arkon, utilizing a biological mass made from Morkheros genome to syphon away his power, as he couldn't stabilize himself. The mutants from whom he had drawn some of his power remained, although weakened, as an incorporeal sphere.

1311 NGT: Rhodan fights diplomatically for the return of Hayok to the LFT. Within Hayok, a star window opens to a galaxy 388 light years away, and a ship emerges from it. It' most important passenger, Trah Rogue, claims Terra and the LFT for the Realm Tradom, which is revealed to be another Thoregon. During a battle, a fleet composed of both arkonid and terran ships barely manages to destroy Rogue's ship, although he escapes. An invasion of more battleships of Tradom is prevented by the intervention of rebels against the Realm, making the star window a one-way gate for an unknown timespan, though seven ships manage to slip through the star window and reunite with Trah Rogue. Perry Rhodan and the arkonid admiral Ascari da Vivo travel to Tradom aboard their respective flagships to meet with the rebels.

Regarding the Suprahet
This is a translated and abbreviated write-up from the Perry Rhodan lexicon. Any notes in {} were added by me.
Suprahet: abbrev. for: supraheterodynamic entity {I don't know what it means - seriously!} - half four-, half five dimensional "Monster" of unmeasurable size, that appeared about 1.2 million years ago in the Milky Way (and other galaxies) and started to "devour" whole star clusters. It was trapped by the Barkonids by feeding it so much energy that it "exploded". Much of it's material mass formed the planets Herkules and Tombstone. - Herkules was a massive planet with a diameter of 2.213.000 kilometres, and larger than it's sun {However this managed to stay stable}. - It was in no ways intelligent, but it destroyed devoured half galaxies. It's origins lie in an energy cloud from an anti-matter universe. Somehow, it parted from that cloud and was pulled into our universe. - from the remaining parts, an intelligent life form, the accalauries, and an intelligent energy sphere, Harno, developed. - The mass that formed the planet Tombstone mutated somehow and bore strange life from it's body - the intelligent Terror Worm and the Horn Hoppers. The Horn Hoppers devoured much of it's mass during the millenia, creating an earth-like planet. The quasi-humanoid Blues (own name: Jülziish) detect Tombstone and make a deal with the Terror Worms, who posed as less intelligent than they really are. The deal was about the material thatthe Horn Hoppers produced, as it was nearly indestructible.
I don't know how big the Suprahet actually was, but taking into consideration the size of Herkules, ... and assuming that Tombstone was initially the same size (though my calculations seem to indicate that it was merely 48000 kilometres in diameter), and remembering that not all of it's mass formed into planets ... . It is certainly COLOSSAL^3 ;).

Regarding the rogue Cosmocrat Vishna
Vishna managed to join the ranks of the Cosmocrats despite having developed from a Matter Sink, which is usually the road to a Chaotarch. She was accepted as an equal by all Cosmocrats. However, the Cosmocrats used a super-computer, the Empire of Viruses, to aid them in their battle against Chaos, and this computer refused to work for Vishna. Enraged, she dissolved herself eventually and tried to integrate herself into the Empire, hoping to access all of it's information in the process. But the Empire sensed her intrusion and used it's self-destruction mechanism that was unknown even to the Cosmocrats(!) and exploded. When Quiupu and others started to reconstruct the Empire millions of years later by command of the Cosmocrats, they unknowinly also reassembled Vishna, creating three incarnations (maybe avatars in D&D terms). All who looked into their eyes saw the illusion of black fire. The third incarnation became Vishna herself, while the others turned into more or less normal humans when Vishna returned "beyond the Matter Sources".

Regarding the Abruse
The Abruse was a crystalline entity spanning much of the Arresum, though it's influence was only visible on planets or spaceships, where it crystallized everything. It was mostly emotionless, but the presence of "normal" life caused it pain (and vice versa, though the pain usually is deadly for them), but from this pain it also learned new things. It was capable to produce other crystalline creatures and spaceships from the planets under it's influence.
It was also capable to project images, and later to expand these images into short-lived "pseudo-life", that were not under her control, but could wander unharmed among "normal" life. Another weapon is the Crystal-Icing, which takes place upon the death of a crystalline commander, shattering into shards that fly around. Anything hit is instantly frozen to Absolute Zero.
The Abruse was an unnatural entity, created by a rogue Mighty One of the Arresum (every universe seems to have a rogue Mighty One  ) with manipulated life spores. It's very existence threatened the structure of the universe as it strived to unite Arresum and Parresum (the two sides of the universe).
