Peter Jackson to be an Executive Producer on the Halo movie

We can only hope. The man deserves pain.

And even better. When Germany finishes changes its tax laws, he isn't going to be able to make movies anymore, because he's not going to be paid by the government for not turning a profit!

Maybe now they can write an ending to Halo 2. Make no mistake, I loved the game, but it didn't have much of an ending, though it is hard to compete with the ending to Halo 1.

And major congratulations are in order. To Reveal, for bringing a major scoop, before it got posted to all other news sites, this day.

It looks like, that EnWorld might have been the first, outside of Bungie, to air it, as they said.

HUZZAH!!! HUZZAH!!! HUZZAH!!!

Okay...now don't let your ego...get any bigger. :p

This is a bad career move for him.

If he wants to do a game-based movie, why not Forgotten Realms?

Because they want mom and pop X-Box purchasers to go to the film, not avoid it because of the "Dungeons & Dragons freaks".

Eh. I guess I just never "got" Halo. I've played the game a couple of times but it didn't grab me the way it did some people.

I'm sure with Peter Jackson and Weta involved, the effects and production values will be top notch. Who's directing?

Might be a good movie, but I won't rush out to see it because of the title.

Well, because I really doubt he would want to bother with direct-to-DVD movies.

While in terms of overall sales I suspect D&D is probably bigger historically than Halo (I guess the two Halo games combined have sold what, 15 million copies?), Halo is much hotter a property now. They also have a reasonably decent writer doing the script (the guy who did the script for 28 Days or whatever that Brit zombie movie was called)

And beyond that, Forgotten Realms is a subset of D&D, and has even less value. Most people know what D&D is. Most do not know what Forgotten Realms is. And many of those that do know it, don't like it.
