D&D (2024) PHB Alt cover delays in Australia

I wish they printed these things locally. It's such a waste of energy shipping all that paper around the planet.
it would be great if local printing prices would be similar for much smaller quantity, same goes for quality of the print.

transporting 1 ton palette via ship is dirt cheap.

but then again, if they wanted to be printed locally, they would sold PDFs, so everyone could print privately for personal use in whatever quality that they see fit. OFC ordering single copy hardcover would cost A LOT.

Does NZ source from Aussie?

I don't know, but NZ gets it after Australia.

The expected release date by region for the alternate cover is now as follows:

  • North America (no change): September 3 (Local Game Store Early Access) / September 17
  • UK and Europe: October 18
  • Australia: October 24
  • New Zealand and South East Asia: October 31

Might be more if there is wait time in harbor.
There’s always a wait due to NZ’s strict biosecurity measures.

I’m not too fussed about delays. I’ve decided I’m not going to buy the first printings of these books. If that means I miss out on the alt covers, so be it. I expect there will be an errata’d box set version by next Christmas. If I’m using the 2024 rules then, I’ll get that. Otherwise I’ll just stick with DDB.
