30 people screaming on the net is not a huge demand.
30 people? The lack of Summoning/Enchantment/Illusion/etc is one of the big complaints from the "4e haters".

By giving us things we already have they are not doing a great job of showing what the game can do. That's what I want to see.
So what exaclty would be something new that hasn't been done before? The 4e class philosophy is "What can you do that no one else can do." That is bringing something "New" to the table.

Besides. I fully expect that the older classes will be doing "New" stuff (just like the Core classes are doing "New" and different stuff). For instance the Sorcerer, who looks like a wild-mage (from what was hinted at in R&C). I expect very little overlap of comparing the Core classes to the PHBII classes.

Besides. The only "Old" stuff is the Gnome, Half-Orc, Barbarian, Sorceror and Duird. That's 5 new classes, and however many "new" races. The Monk and Psionics look to be coming out at least two years from now, and I think the Bard is coming out on DDI. The "Old" stuff is fairly staggered throughout.

The issue of bringing back old stuff versus getting new stuff has to be looked at it from the prospective of "What gets us more money?"

Old stuff has a high chance of bring in old D&D fans who haven't gone to 4e yet.

New stuff doesn't.

I'd love to see some new classes that seems like 4E can support but never could work in 3.5... I hope they knock themselves out and push themselves with the system rather than "How can we do ______ in this system." That said - I understand the need to convert core classes for those fan and a half-old half-new would fit very well, I think.

I'm honestly surprised about the half-orc being in PHB2. I'd have thought they'd been axed. I'd have preferred the real thing, i.e. orc as a player race.

The catalog only mentions 3 of the returning races, no word what the other races will include. I expect the book will have about 8 races and draw heavily from the MM playable races, with a couple totally new races. Likewise I expect the classes will be mostly converted from previous editions, with again a couple totally new.
