Who's the cover artist? And the very different vibe of White Dwarf magazine/Fiend Folio/Fighting Fantasy art from the British RPG crew of the 1980s was just great. If I were in the business of creating fantasy roleplaying materials, when I wasn't stalking Erol Otus for more art, I'd be putting together all-star British fantasy art for my products. I love the grit and weirdness of those products.

Fiend Folio: Tome of Creatures Malviolentand . . . benign ?
Really, benign? We have Fiend, Creatures & Malviolent in the title and then it ends with benign. Doesn't really strike fear into the heart of men, as they say.

I always thought those were some sort of bony projections, especially considering the gaunt face and the wrapped arms... Kind of like a race of living mummies, or anorexic vampires.
