Pig stats

I though pigs were like 150-250 pounds... but then again, what do I know? I'm a city boy.

While modern pigs often get as large as 300 pounds (and some monsters even more), this is mainly a result of intense breeding the last 50 years.

Medieval pigs were quite a bit more lean (and wilder, there are several stories of people killed by pigs). I have no certain data on weights, but I guess 100 pounds would be reasonable for such pigs.

This would put pigs just between small and medium, I suggest going for small as the base, with advancement to medium as suggested above. Apart from that I quite like the writeup of Grazzt, it seems very "piggish" to me :)

Pig Lord

Abilities: [...] Cha 16

Now that's the Cary Grant of pigs.

Always beware the owner of a pig farm. Why you ask?

Because a small group (pack?) of pigs can reduce 200 pounds of flesh to nothing in a very short amount of time.

If you remove the teeth before hand to prevent identification purposes ... :D

(Now to bring it back to D&D)
Your players will never guess Farmer Joe is actually the source of all the murders!

What type of pig are we talking about? Certain Pigs can get darn big.

Actually, it's the other way around. Certain pigs don't get big.

The ancestor to the domesticated breeds is the Near Eastern wild boar (Sus scrofa), which is 4.5 feet long, and 3 feet high. And that's not a gangly horse or something - that's a solid block of flesh. The natural state of pigs is big.

Don't let the movie Babe or common talk of supposedly miniature pigs throw you off. Even the "miniature potbelly pigs" some folks keep as pets get to be 150 pounds. Full fledged farm porkers get to be 300 or 400 pounds easily. These guys may be compact, but they are by no means small.

By the way, I have been told by veterinarians than an "average" horse is somewhere in the 1000 to 1400 pound range. An "average" cow weighs in at a ton. There's much variation around those averages, mind you, but it gives you a rough scale.

thanks guys. i still think it should use a d20, or maybe a d%. yeah, d% sounds better, like 80d% or something. that way you can wait longer between cureing the creature as you eat part of it. brilliant
