Pint Sized Sword and Sorcery

She wiped her eyes, then looked at Vandir with a sense of urgency. "The bad men stole my friend! I've got to get him back! They were wearing green and white robes, and Stillquiet scratched up their faces, and I think they were priests... Do you know who they are?"

"Oh, and my name's Edwina. What's yours?"

"Me names Vandir" said Vandir "Please to meet you Edwina and good for you cat." he looked down at the cat in the tiny girls arms

"Green and White Priests- um -I haven't been in Samis long but back home in Erdafel we had priests from the Navan temple and-" his breath caught in his throat as he remembered "- they told my friend Kris she had to go away because she was half elf. I don't know if there's Navan priests in Samis, I hope not." He looked up to where a dwarf kid had bumped into another kid disembarking from the ship he had watched come in and grinned at the spectacle.

"Your a gnome right? " he asked a plan formulating in his head "Was your friend an Elf? We'll try and find him"

"Well, you're half right. I'm a gnome, but my friend is a seed."

"A seed?" Vandir has a quizzical look slightly confused by the reply "your friend is a seed? Like you plant in the garden? huh um ok - well I'll help you get your seed back then..."

"You don't believe me, do you? Well, it's not just any seed - it's a treant seed, and it's special. It can talk to me, and I'm supposed to take care of it until we find a place for it to grow. If you can help me find it, though, I would really be happy..."

Mick, human male explorer

Mick was very very upset when he returned home, especially when his mother didn't yell at him for being in the forest. He put on a brave face and did what she said, and when he found Mary on the boat, he decided maybe it wasn't so bad after all. The boat was bigger than any he'd been on before and he took the opportunity to find every corner and crevice a boy could fit into. Since Mary was stuck in the bottom of the boat by herself, he made sure to give her detailed reports each day. Nevertheless, every night he slept with one hand clutched around the Myme, and every night he asked it to make his dad better.

When they heard the captain and owner talking, he almost opened his mouth to say something about borrowing some of the cure to make their parents better, but decided not to. Mom would probably call it stealing, and send it back and then I'd just get in trouble and Dad wouldn't be better anyway. Besides, Mary's in enough trouble as it is, if she gets caught.

Hours before the ship made port, Mick was standing along the rail, staring at the approaching town. Fears that had been mostly buried for the trip came bubbling to the surface. What if I can't find this guy I'm supposed to give the letter to? What if Mary gets sent home? What if the kids are all mean at school? What if I have to be in school all day? Moodily, he continued to stare over the gray water until a deckhand yelled at him to get lost.

After disembarking, the town overwhelms him. It's so different than home, he thinks soberly. The reassuring sight of the Navan is gone. Lost in thought, he doesn't notice the boy until they bump into each other. The letter clutched in his hand flutters to the ground.

"Oops, sorry!"

"'sok," he replies. "I wasn't payin' 'tention." He bends over to get the letter. "You know where I can fin' a moneychanger?"

Mary was all too happy to breathe clean air and see the sun again, after that many days locked in the hold of the ship, having to stay still and mute every time a sailor showed up. She wanted to run for an hour, just to forget that awful sound of the waves constantly hitting the hull and sucking back, that entered her dreams, becoming the sound of her mother couching and choking.
But it was the best thing to do. She couldn't stand the risk of breaking her mom's medicine, and thought that mom would better spend the last coins for it rather than for her. She left her a note, saying: MOM DONT WORY. ILL BE BAK WIT A CURE. I LUV YOU. and left it with Tallyho, her unicorn puppet, so she knew she wouldn't stay away for long, because Mary never stayed long without him. But she took the little wooden goose with her.

Making sure no sailor is around to see her, Mary grabs a rope and lets her fall along it to the dock.
"Mick, did you see where that man went? We need to find those leaves- oh!"
As she lands on the dock she notices another kid there and her grayish cheeks turn a little rosy.
"Errr.. hi?!"

Garreth was just about to answer the boy's question when another child came running over and started to talk to the boy. Garreth was stunned for a second by the girl's sudden appearance and the fact that it was the same girl he had seen climbing down the ship. He quickly regained his composure and turned to face her.

"Hi also. I'm sorry if I interupted something you two have to do."

He turned back to the boy.

"Sorry, I don't know any of those. My dad works with money, but I don't think it's the same thing. We could ask him if he knows any, if you want. His office is pretty close. But, I guess you're in a hurry."

He lapsed into silence for a moment before inspiration struck him.

"Oh yeah, I'm Garreth"

He stuck his hand out as he said this, glanced at and then quickly pulled it back again. He tried as best he could to wipe the charcoal dust off it with his tunic and then stuck it back out, grinning sheepishly.

Mick shrugs and sticks out his hand to shake. "I'm Mick. This's Mary. We're from Neva Town. I don't hafta find the moneychanger right away. Mary an' me have a quest we gotta finish." He looks at Mary.

"A treant! wow" Vandir gawped amazed that this tiny gnome could have once been in possession of a Treant seed "my Dad told me bout Treants, walking trees, he said there was some in the Navan forest. I never thought they grew from seeds but I suppose they must do.

Wow um okay then we diffenitely gotta get your friend back from those priests. Um which way they go?"

Vandir realises he has no idea where any Temples are let alone the priests that stole Edwina's Treant, looking around he wonders who he might ask and remembers the trio by the ship

"Come on lets go ask them if they know where the Temples are" he says to Edwina pointing to the three kids gathered by the boat...
