Pirate Borg: Buried in the Bahamas

Nikosandros

Golden Procrastinator
One of the barrel moves slightly and a scraping sound is heard. This goes on for a while and then, suddenly, you hear a loud squawk and a fluttering of wings. A macaw parrot, originally quite colorful, but currently soiled, flies out.

"Blargh! I was drowning in there! What a rotten smell! Where am I? What forsaken place is this?"

Burn Tokwith

With growing resentment, Tokwith finds nothing of value among the corpses. "Stupid! Stupid!" In frustration he kicks a body.

He looks up to see his shipmate the Leper-chaun swimming in the surf, trying to gather the flotsam of the wreck. Tokwith notes the bobbing timbers, the sailcloth, and loose rope. An idea dawns in his head. With any luck, there may even be carpenter's tools in one of the crates. Together they could use the supplies --

-- to build a massive bonfire and signal for help!

Tokwith rushes into the waves to grab whatever he can salvage.

I don't believe in the no-win scenario
Bautista, or what seems to be left of him, sits on the beach while drawing in the sand. Mumbling to himself, in different languages, and in different voices. Shelter, food, and rescue seem to of no pressing need to him currently.

Desiree and Tokwith find a water barrel with enough fresh(ish) water for about four days, along with enough rum for everyone to get drunk twice*.

There's also enough timber and sailcloth to either build a raft or a shelter. But not both.

((* In Pirate Borg, getting drunk heals characters at the cost of Agility and can make a character sick. It's that kind of game.))

Desiree "The Leperchaun" Groves
HP: 14;-2=12-1=11 Luck 1d2;
Equipment: 2 portions of rum; 4 portions of water

The Leperchaun, stands half-naked over Safari's shoulder, dripping sea water from his long scraggly onto the map,

"Heart of the sea, eh? Well, during a furious storm, in the bilge of a ship I was born. Thar ain't no one who has the sea in 'em as I do besides, mebby, a mermaid. And thar just fairy-tales."

He looks to the morning sun and shakes more water from his dripping hair, "Well, by the sun 'tis easy enough to see what side of the island we be on. And that cave's on the north side. It'll be like a dandy stroll in the market."

"I'm all fer finding it. Who's with me? What about you, yeh stupid bird?? Polly wanna come find some treasure? Come sit on my shoulder as is proper!" He didn't remember there being a parrot on the ship but he'd always wanted a talking bird.

"I'm with ye! And Philip of course!"

Safari's pet monkey emerges from his hiding place in Safari's satchel, wet and curious. The little monkey eyes the parrot suspiciously, but seems to accept the oddity of the situation.

"A talking parrot, a silent sailor. And a shipwrecked crew ... the odds could be worse. We'll find a way out of this, I'm sure of it."

Safari casts his eyes about for any prominent landmarks matching the map.

Burn Tokwith

Huffing and wheezing from rolling the barrel of water onto the beach, Tokwith peers over Leperchaun's shoulder peering over Safari's shoulder. "That's a treasure map if I've ever sees one. As soon as we're off this patch of wet sand we'll make for it. Now help me dump the water out of this barrel. The staves will burn good once we dry them out!"

Bautista reaches over and grabs a side of the barrel to help Tokwith empty it out. Afterwards, he wanders around gathering whatever may be helpful and piling up the odds and ends on the beach. Humming some unknown tune to himself.
