Yup, for a long time hollywood thought Pirates to be the box-office kryptonite. Plus PotC was based on a disney ride (although loosely) .. who indeed?

But this is something I'll definately want to see.

I can't wait for this one. I just hope the don't try to hard to capture the same magic that made the 1st one so good. I speaking more directly about Jack's flamboyance. If they try to hard it's going to come off as cheesy.

Judging by the trailer this one'll have much in common with the first one - even the main villain, played by Geoffrey Rush. If that's the case I don't think it's a good idea... Jack Sparrow killed Captain Barbossa in a very clever way, so bringing back Captain Barbossa will IMHO spoil some of the fun of the first movie - at least when you're watching them back to back.

IIRC Pirates 3 is to be released in 2007.

The pirate captain you see in shadows is not Barbosa. It's a, like, squid-thingy. It has tentacles.
