Plane Shift Question

In the description for Plane Shift, the PHB mentions having material component of a tuning fork; different forks are tuned to different planes of existence. It also suggests making these items not easily available. I like both of these things, and want to implement them in my game as one of my PC's now has the ability to use the spell.

I've looked in various places, but would like to know if there are any "official" guidelines to handling this. I can always come up with something on my own, but something offical to guide me would be very helpful...

The answer to this question is cosmology dependent. Are you using the "great wheel default" cosmology or the published FRCS cosmology - or what here?

IIRC - you might check out MotP - a buddy presently has My copy.

I have MoTP, but I don't see anythig specifically pertaining to the Plane Shift "tuning forks." I'm using the default cosmology for the moment (not that the players have to know), but I don't think it matters which cosmology - I'm looking any sort of published material on the subject...

I don't think you'll find any. But then again, you don't need it. They told you what you need. You need "tuning forks". So, plop some "tuning forks" throughout the realms and BOOM, problem solved. Basically, "tuning forks" are the same as "keys" from Planescape. Same concept.
