I've been running Dark of the Day as an online game since 2005. It's changed shape a few times, migrating from email to forum, and changing systems from AD&D 2e to a more contemporary homebrew one based on 3.5.
The setting, however, has remained constant: Planescape, as it was originally released, pre-Faction War. I've been using some scripted material as well as developing original plot around individual PCs, but canon is not set in stone. This game is a little bit different from the average play-by-post in that it has a large freeform section where PCs can interact freely at the players' own pace.
I'm getting started on a new story arc -- the Deva Spark -- that could use a few more characters to fully flesh it out. If you've got a concept for:
- An Athar or Godsman investigator
- A lawman with the Harmonium, Mercykillers, or Fraternity of Order
- A peacekeeper with the Transcendent Order
- Anyone who could be in the wrong place at the right time
...then I've got a role for you to fill in plot. Everyone from any style of play is welcome, but those who will thrive are the self-starters who actively pursue their own goals and interact with other PCs.
No experience is necessary, I'm happy to work with anyone and everyone with concepts and character creation. If you're interested, come check us out at http://darkoftheday.proboards58.com.
