Players Don't Care About Your Setting

At any table there is likely 1 person who does care about the setting, and that player (sometimes known as the GM or DM) usually greatly enjoys it. The trick is to make sure the table has a good time, and so long as the balance between what everybody wants is maintained it should work well. If that one player called GM coincidentally finds one or more other players at the table get some enjoyment out of the setting as well, than its a win for everyone.
