Our current game, the PCs are goblins, protecting their tribe from external threats. Before we started, I had to remind a couple of the players that it isn't really an "evil" campaign. The nearby human colony is a part of a fascist oligarchy and is definitely a threat, a rampaging gnoll band needed stopping, they've made a deal with a mind flayer that represents an underdark organization that they definitely don't trust (they've seen the result of another goblin clan that refused the offer...), and the local fey are insular and protective of the portal to the fey realm in the middle of the forest that they protect. Evil is a relative thing. :)
