Hmmm...insider has once again decided that my year-long subscription has expired. Great....I really enjoy calling WotC customer service and wasting 1/2 hour trying to figure out what is wrong.
Yeah, I'm getting irritated too. Last month when the Dhampyr article came out, I couldn't access it even though I was logged in. I thought it was just my subscription having run out (3 monther) even though I was technically logged in, so I re-ordered, and it worked fine after that.

Then last week I get an email saying it had auto-renewed the first week of Feb, so I had double-ordered, and they wanted to give me a refund. I go through the refund process, and now even though I'm logged in I once again can't access the articles. I just get the "subscribe to read" message. I didn't get the refund til friday, after I had already gotten the City article, so it's definitely related IMO.

Not happy.

I feel so stupid now... thanks for pointing out they're in the PHB. What happened to all this power creep and stuff everybody is always complaining about? I figured the PHB was obsolete at this point ;-)

Sheesh.

Dragon is continuing to kick the crap out of the PHB in presenting races.

Honestly, I have to agree. My friends and I always wonder when WotC might release an article of this quality about dwarves, or elves, or even humans. They might get a good amount of love in the PHB, but would it hurt to give some of the more "iconic" races a bit more?

This happened to me too. I thought they had corrected it last month when I called but apparently the correction only lasted one month.

As it should. I love this to death: core race features in the books, expanding as necessary in dragon, and the crunchy bits go into Database & Builder. Ahhh, this means no stupid Races of Ebberon, but rather tasty little packages like this.

The PHB races have recived bonus love in the FRPG and much more in martial power (and will apparently get some in the other power books, and some racial paragon paths in PHB2, etc). The "book" races get their stuff spread over a number of books, instead of all at once.

The thing I really liked was the feat that made a number of "ranged basic attack" powers for various spellcasting classes available as "melee basic attack" powers, giving the spellcaster the option to charge, make opportunity attacks, and benefit more from a warlord in the group, etc. One of those "hidden gems", considering it has no prerequisite other than the class, and it's tucked away in this article on the shadar-kai. [Maybe that's an error though?].

While those could be interesting articles, the warforged, minotaur, and shadar-kai articles create PC-playable versions of the monster traits listed at the back of the Monster Manual. So I think they'll be more frequent simply because they're taking something that isn't really a playable PC race and making it so, rather than expanding on a more fleshed-out race. There's definitely good opportunity for articles later on that expand on the PH1 and PH2 races, though.
