D&D 3E/3.5 Please Confirm 3.5e Tumble

Last para on p148 PHB:
Accidentally ending movement in an illegal space
Sometimes a character ends its movement in a place where it is not allowed to stop (gives example). When that happens put your miniature on the last legal position you occupied, or the closest legal position, if there's a legal position which is closer.

I think this answers the above questions about failing the tumble at warrior #3 :)

Cheers

That's how I understood it, and that's how I tried to relay it. I suppose I could've split that sentence to make it a bit clearer though! :) Here, I'll go back and bold a couple things! :D

Thanks for clarifying that this IS 3.5e Tumble everyone, and to drnuncheon for the "by taking a -10 on your check you can Tumble at full speed" bit. That's another thing I like about it!

Tessarael, I have to disagree with your first post. While it would shorten gameplay to have only one roll, how would you adjudicate a failed check?

If trying to tumble past 4 opponents, even if you used a DC of 21, how would rule?
1) All 4 opponents get AoOs?
2) Only one does? (or maybe 1 for every 2 pts you missed the DC?) If so, which one(s)?
3) Some other way?

If trying to tumble through 4 opponents, which ones do you get through and where do you stop on a failed check? Do you again base it on the check result vs the DCs? (i.e. You need a 21 to get past all 4, if you only got a 16 on your check you make it through the first enemy but not the second and wind up in the appropriate square)

Finally, I like the fact that Mobility would kick in and help with these AoO that anyone incurs on a failed Tumble check. I know it always has applied, but with these rules I think it looks a *LOT* more attractive than it has in the past.

DrSpunj

The only AoO that would be given out is the guy who stops you. He incurs an AoO because you are trying to invade his square. The others before wouldn't since you passed the check.

You roll a check for EVERY combatent. Not just one roll. Trying to give him only one roll is like giving a fighter only one roll for his 4 attacks. Each get harder just like the tumble. Makes no sense to do.

And it does state in PHB 3.5 that if you fail to tumble past and cannot find a "safe" square you'll end up in the closest one to the one you failed to tumble past. Ie probaly to the left or right of him of if not back the how every many squares you tried tumbling in the first place. No fun but much more balanced.

EDIT: Nevermind, found it, thanks :) Btw, i noticed that if you have the Run feat you don't loose your dexterity bonus while running, neat :)

Where'd you read that part about last legal position? I'm going to read through combat, I may have just glanced over it.
