Please explain how the badges and tickets work

Hiya,

It looks like I'll be finally making the trek to Gencon next year, along with a group of my buddies from the Great White North. To get an idea what to expect, I've been looking at the schedule of events for 2005. Mass confusion ensued.

So far, this is what I've got:

a) The badge gets you in the door, and maybe into seminars, but not most scheduled events.
b) you use tickets to get into events
c) most events cost $1.50, $3 or $6, which leads me to believe that a ticket is worth $1.50

Now, the confusion starts:

1) The website says that you can pre-order only two tickets per event, but several of the events cost more than two tickets to enter . Huh??? Do certain events have their own price, which is reflected in a single ticket rather than a collection of generic ones?

2) You can buy 20 "generic" tickets at one time. Are these tickets meant to be used during the con, i.e. a seat is not reserved for you at the event in advance?

3) True Dungeon costs $19! Is that a team cost, or per person?

4) Is there an area for free pick-up games beyond what is scheduled in advance? i'd hope so

5) Is there an admission fee for the ENnies?

Any help would be greatly appreciated...

Thanks!

1. You kinda got the idea but mixxing it up a bit. Each event is ONE ticket. Most of the events use the formula of (1.50 for every 2 hours of gaming) thus One ticket for a 4 hour event should average $3 . You are limited to how many tickets you can get for an event so that one person doesnt buy up all thegood stuff.

2. Most of the events use these generic tickets. Generic tickets is like canadian money in Detroit. We'll take it, but we prefer you to have a real ticket. Real tickets are taken ahead of generic tickts

3. True dungeon is 20 bucks a person and it is WORTH IT. I avoided it the first year thinking it couldnt be worth 20 bucks but it was. It's a living dungeon without all the larp crap. 60 bucks of my gencon funds this year is dedicated just to playing it. It is the highlight of a gencon and it is recommended you prereg for this as soon as you can.

4 There are a ton of pickup games posted on flyers andbanners arond the place 24 seven. I get about 4 hours of sleep at the con each year (going on my fifth year- not counting socals)

5 I don't believe theres an entrance fee. I dropped in for a minute last year.

So, true to my engineering background, I made the system more complicated than it needed to be. Good to know. :D

And stop insulting my money! You should appreciate all the pretty colours...

Thanks!

gets you into secure areas; dealer room, street dance (does that still apply).

event cost is a ticket to the event, so, when you buy a 7$ ticket to an event you are getting one ticket. Most standard events are 3$.
2) You can buy 20 "generic" tickets at one time. Are these tickets meant to be used during the con, i.e. a seat is not reserved for you at the event in advance?
generics will work for any event and as such just are a sub for cash, you can cash them in at the end of the con. Last year, a seat on the 'dragon' cost X number of generic. You can get into events with generics but you are last served, so no seats, no game.
3) True Dungeon costs $19! Is that a team cost, or per person?
person
4) Is there an area for free pick-up games beyond what is scheduled in advance? i'd hope so
yes, there are tack boards, tables, people just wanting to play. You may want to check out the ENNies table for fellow gamers.
5) Is there an admission fee for the ENnies?
still free at this time.

Any help would be greatly appreciated...

Thanks![/QUOTE]
