hey there, im about to start running a plansescape campaign. this will be my fifth foray into Sigil and the Great ring as a DM and my first in a few years. well ive got the basics for the first adventure planned out (nothing too big, just a simple to thing to get the PCs adjusted to this strange place...)

Ive got an idea for the next adventure, and the main theme of the campaign, which is to cut a long story short: A tenebrous apostate (ToM) is trying to bring tenebrous back to life as true deity to oppose and hopefully defeat Orcus (and later challenge the other death-rlated deities in the great cosmology). though im having a problem trying to figure out just how that would happen.
what ive vome up with is this: the tenebrous apostate (quite a crazy person, actually) is willing to sacrifice herself to accomplish this task and has researched (though tomes and rital grimoires millennia old) a method to invite the vestige's possession, thus turning herself into dead eity. this muct take place on the negative enegy plane (where all living creatures without protection eventually die and become wraiths. of course, since she's doing the ritual and tenebrous is himself is obviously giving her a hand she will become something far more than a wraith. of course the PCs are involved in the story and trying to stop this (they may even be allied with orcus or nerull... or efven one of the good deities...)

anyway, can anyone think of an elaboration on this idea, or provide me with convenient loopholes mive completely forgotten about? much appreceated, andthanks in advance

Ooo... one thing to note. Evil people are typically much more willing to sacrifice others than themselves. Thus the whole [Evil] thing.

It could be a bit cliche, but how about an anti-Orcus crusade of mostly [Good] folks that's secretly run by this Tenebreous Apostate, who uses them to get the evil items she needs and then starts sacrificing the goody-two-shoes, with the rest of your plot intact?

Cheers, -- N

Nifft: thanks, thats an interesting idea i actually thought of that thought it was a bit tricksy for my party! though that is an interesting angle, with options for lots of twists and surprises (especially when the party NPC revels his true colours!)
thanks for the feedback though
