Point Blank Shot and Ray Spells

If you had Improved Critical (Ray) or Improved Critical (Energy Missile) they would work just as well as Improved Critical (Big 'Ole Axe).

The question really is are they a good choice of feats? Choice is up to you, but for a straight Wizard or Sorceror, it will be a while before they even qualify and unless they cast a LOT of that kind of spell it probably won't come up much.

Edit: Oh, and KReynolds. Couldn't you gain the +1 to hit on a Fireball even though you are rolling to make it through the opening and not to actually hit someone?

If you are more accurate within 30', I would think that would still apply when trying to toss a Fireball through an arrow slit.

In my opinion, spell damage is fixed unless using a meta-magic feat that increases spell damage (such as Maximize Spell). Point Blank Shot would give you the +1 to hit but that is it.

Point blank shot means you can more precisely target your ranged weapons against opponents.

If that applys to ranged weapons that happen to be spells, then, well, wouldn't targetting the opponents more vital areas with a damaging spell result in a little more damage than slamming it into a less vital area?

If the rules seem to support it, I can see a reasoning for it.

The more I think about it, yeah, I suppose so.
