Both players and I prefer rolling, even with inequities.
The only time I have have ever used point buy is when we returned to a high level game after
two years of other campaigns, some characters had been lost and stats had to be guessed at.
We used point buy of 32 so we could replicate the generally high stats as they were remembered.
The same method was used when new characters were brought into join the party.
This was the most epic game I have played, running to 19th level and the high stats complemented this well.
