I like the more time idea as I don't think that there's enough time played with the chats and checking up on rules etc. I'd like to play for about 5-6 hours. As for the time spent on prep for a campaign, I just tend to get a rough idea either using a monster or set of monsters and wing it in most cases. Sometimes I set up specific encounters and adventures and stick closely to it no matter what.

My group varies, but is usually 5 hours. This is limited by the kids' bedtime, late arrivals, the DM getting coffee, and non-game chat. Some sessions burst up to 8+ hours, such as the campaign's first epic battle with Nightscale, in Forge of Fury. On the rare daytime session, we can go over 8 hours, but usually feature a break in the middle.

and there is another Poll....???

Thanks again for all the interesting feed back and comments. Why not vote on my other poll in this forum and help decide what time is best spent on design and DM'ing in general ??? Cheers again all ;) Wish I could figure out how to insert a thread Link ???
