Poll of Polls

What is your relationship with polls, particularly ones about D&D?

P.S. I agree with Mearls that this weekend it seems every other page 1 thread was a poll, which is unusual and pretty silly in it's own right.

Interesting options.

I enjoy voting for polls because it's easy and anonymous. I don't put too much stock in the results. They're too easily swayed.

The fact this poll is being taken so seriously illustrates the serious problem ;)

I too am cheering for the Diaglo option.

I've noticed a lot of polls here on EN World, along with a lot of interest in said polls. As part of WotC R&D's research into games, I'd like to get a feel for whether this is simply a blip on the radar or true trend in gamer interest.

Thanks!

Polls on ENWorld are statistically worth nothing at all.

But they are valuable in the same vein as the 1-star reviews (and probably, many of the 5-star reviews also) on Amazon. Gives some insight on how some folks dislike or perhaps even like the game.

But watch out trying to bring some levity here, you just might offend someone!!! :)

I'm the guy that posted three of those polls. I'm just trying to get a feel for which way to wind is blowing around here, so to speak. EN World is getting less hostile, so I'm jumping back in.

As 4e moves forward, it makes sense to listen to both people who like the game, to get a sense of what they're looking for, and people who dislike the game, to address concerns when possible and find areas of weakness that we can strengthen.
Well, since you've asked...

I've purchased the three core books. I've played 4e three times and attempted to run it once. The game IS fun to play. You've succeeded in making a smoother flowing game.

To have fun with 4e I have modify the way I play. I'm almost sure I could put a lot of work into house ruling in a lot more verisimilitude, but since I can just pull a game off the shelf such as C&C, Pathfinder or even 3.x that's already much closer to what I want there's really not much of a reason to play 4e again.

I'll tell you what. If you guys at WotC were to publish a 4e supplement that reintroduces a lot of the previous core mythology, gives rules support for 'simulationist' style play, makes sandbox type campaigns much easier and in general adds a bit more flumph I'd buy it and give D&D 4e another shot. How about it?

Okay, while I do not agree with your statements, I can understand how some might feel that way. One thing I do not understand however, is your claim that 4e does not support sandbox type campaigns. Could you expand on why you think this?

Cheers

I could, but I'll pass for the following reasons:

1). That's not what this thread is about.
2). I'd just be saying the same thing that dozens of other posters have already said.
3). I've seen you turn these kind of discussions into edition wars and I don't need the drama.
