I dunno--at least the cartoon captured most of the important things that make D&D different from most high-fantasy fiction: true ensemble cast (rather than main character and sidekicks); dragons as intelligent, spell-casting people (rather than beasts); spellcasters and non- roughly equally important and equally powerful. Those are the biggest ones, off the top of my head. If the cartoon had had D&D-style magical polytheistic priests, and a multi-species party of equals, it'd have hit pretty much all the significant D&Disms. The movie didn't manage a single one.Umbran said:The worst depiction, or the worst entertainment?
The cartoon was, in most ways, more enjoyable than the movie, though the movie is perhaps better if you want to have MST3K-type fun.
The cartoon was also (imho) a less accurate depiction of the game.
