Yes, and Stinking Cloud and Web are 5 squares on a side. Frankly, I kind of expect Fireball to frequently be too big.

And stinking cloud also. But it looks like you can push both up against walls as long as the middle square is a legal space. Or so that's how I read the burst rules.

I voted Web, mostly because it's the sort of effect I feared 4e would drop in favour of all damage, all the time. However looking at the descriptions and the the poll results, great googly moogly that's a close result and a hard choice. I just hope all the power choices are this hard.

I fail at bursts and blasts. I keep counting the origin square.

That is a hard choice! I think I like Bigby's; the controller aspect of being able to grab a foe is significant. Getting free of a grab negates someone's move action... against a melee creature, this spell is dynamite. The hand could simply follow any creature who escaped and grab them again. It's perfect for keeping a lurker out of a fight.

Of course, that huge fireball is tempting. And the damage output of the cloud... and the immobilizing potential for tons of creatures of web...

I think I'm going to enjoy 4th edition very much.

Depends on party makeup, honestly.

All things equal, I think I'd choose Web and Stinking cloud.

It's interesting how close this is. Seems fairly well balanced! Much more so than I'd thought.

Either that or we don't know what we're talking about yet.

Stinking cloud does have the disadvantage of being completely useless against undead, but I suppose you can just choose not to prepare it if you expect to encounter undead.

I'd say if if I had an orb based wizard I would go for Web for sure, but I agree that the other decidions are hard.
