alright then, you value your free time more then the "demand" for a product you think should be on the market.
Absolutely.
Obviously 3 diffrent companies felt that a product detailing sex would sell better then one detailing merchant rules.
Obviously. And that, as I noted in my first post, is what saddens me.
Option B. Wait for another d20/ogl company to write one, and/or suggest such a book to them. This looks like your best bet.
Yeppers.
either way i guess the trend shows that companies disagree with you.
They don't "disagree" with me about anything. I'm not entirely sure what you're talking about here. (You might have misread or misunderstood, but I never said that there is a demand for a merchant book and that making these elf pr0n (;)) books are wrong - simply that a merchant book is a product that I would like to see to meet my D&D needs, and that it saddens me to see that there is a greater demand for a D&D sex book than a D&D merchant book.) Don't read too much into what's not there, ArthurQ.
Untill we see 4 books detailing merchant rules anyway.
:D Ah, d20.

Yes, they would give the "guh?" and leave (again, rightfully so) despite the fact that it's based on something from the "real world". Just because it's from the real world, doesn't mean it can't be considered creepy in a D&D RPG. And, like I said in my post above, my group would consider that creepy.

Eh...I worded that badly...sorry.

I didn't mean to imply that you and your gamers shouldn't have a negative reaction just because it has a real-world counterpart. I simply wanted to point out that it, like many other D&D things do have roots in RW history/mythology...which you know already so I'm just preaching to the choir.

I'd actually love to see a d20/OGL book on merchants and caravans, too. Maybe I should try and write one...which means I'll get to it about the time 5th edition comes out. :)

You're prolly right there.
And for the record, I too wouldnt mind seeing a book detaling trade routes and caravans and crunch and cream along that tone.

wait, wasn't i the mark there?

Yes, you were, but there were two marks. When i was typing i was thinking of Mark Arsenault from Gold Rush Games because we'd spent most of the day with him at the booth. In my head I think of you as "Clay." Which may not be the best way to think if I ever wish to have a normal conversation. ie. one outside of my head. :)

Anyhoo... It was fun, even if it's a bit fuzzy in places... can't drink like I used to... and I'm looking very much forward to it next year.

ps. Suzi's working on your ornaments right now.

For example, it has already surpassed the "creepy" mark for me with weird things like the sacred prostitute and that tantric sex-power stuff. My players would give me a big "guh?" and leave if I tried to introduce those things (and rightfully so).

Speaking of creepy, does the picture of the pale skinned succubus on the cover of BoEF and Valar's web site freak anyone out? It sure freaks me out! It's not exactly what I'd expect on the cover of a book covering eroticism. I'd rather see a beautiful maiden, not some creepy pale skinned demoness!
