[Poly] What's happening to Polyhedron/Dungeon?

I haven't been involved in this debate at all, yet I fully support the combo package. I would not have picked up Poly before, but now I enjoy reading it every month. I liked the 50/50 split, but if things must change to keep the two in one then I'm all for it.

Just to be clear to the hardheaded out there. I liked Dungeon first. I like them combined. Poly was a good addition.

Thanks Mr. Mona,

I was one of the "more-Poly" guys, so I am less enthusiastic than others here might be about the changes, but certainly understand that you are responding to yoru buying public.

Me, too. I never paid any attention to Dungeon until it merged with the revised Polyhedron. When that happened, I subscribed immediately.

Not that I'm complaining... I think you guys are doing great work! Just voicing my opinion.

Maybe Dungeon should move towards a web based subscription service that produces PDF's. That'll eliminate printing and mailing costs.

You could buy an entire issue, or could even pay per adventure. Say, $3 or $5 depending on the size of the adventure.

Produce two PDF's, one that's monitor friendly and one that's printer friendly.

You could also offer free adventures and other bonus material to yearly subscribers without hurting the folks who just buy one issue.

Oh, scratch that. Not promises, we paid for a service. Replace every instance of "promise" in the above letter with "contractual obligation". You see, you offered us a specific service. We took you up on the offer and paid you in advance. Now you're backing out of the deal that was struck.

In my line of work we call that "breech of contract".

Except that there was no contract. All you did was subscribe to a magazine. There's no guarantee of any content in a magazine. And I highly doubt you could successfully argue in court that any statement Wizards made has any authority over what Paizo did when it acquired the magazine.

Like the current issue with the millenium falcon in it.
That issue is "current"? It's not even out to subscribers yet, to the best of my knowledge. I'm not expecting my copy for two or three weeks yet...

I don't think that's going to be a ton of use for most DM's as it's going to be hard to snag that ship from Han.
I'd be interested in your feeling on that matter after you read the article. One of my goals was to make it as accessible as possible to players and DMs alike. It includes a host of plot hooks DMs can use to bring the Falcon into a campaign, and plenty of additional tips for ways to keep it from destroying the official Star Wars continuity when the players do get thair hands on the controls.

The article also covers the "stock" YT-1300 transport, providing maps of two different configurations plus the Falcon itself.

I think (or hope, at least) that you'll be pleasantly surprised... :)

Barring any new info from Episode III, there's hardly any info on the Falcon pre-classic trilogy, except for that 1) Lando owned it and 2) Han won it from him in a card game. I think it's a great idea for prequal campaigns.

/personal opinion

1. I don't use poly, no place for it in my game it's wasted paper.
2. Glad to hear Dungeon will be expanding.
3. Great to see EM take over, I like what he did with the whole mini-games but will never use them.

One suggestion that I would love to make and would love to see would be some OGL/OGC content in the mags. I mean you don't have to open up the whole damn thing but just SOME of it would be useful especially the mini-games.

I will wait to see what issue 103 is and take my stance on that from there.

Heck, I was just going to cancel my subscription, now I want a full refund.

The tough part about being in charge of a magazine is that making decisions I feel are best for the largest number of readers sometimes means making a change that some readers hate. I'm sorry that you feel betrayed. If you would like a subscription refund, I suggest sending a quick email to customer.service@paizo.com. We've just hired a couple of great customer service representatives who should be able to take care of your request quickly and painlessly.

Thanks for subscribing up to this point.
