Hey Lizard,

You listed Jack Vance as one of your inspirations for this mini-game.

I can't help but wonder, are you the same Lizard that often writes for the Excellent Prismatic Spray?

Just wondering.

Yup. 'Tis me.

Leaving aside the mechanical issues, thematically...

Spelljammer: No problem at ALL.
Mecha Crusade: Deviating from the source material, but that's only because they happened to not think of it. Giant Robots as artifacts of a past civilization work especially well.
Hijinx:Josie And The Pussycats in Outer Space, here we come! (I can't be the only person to remember that one...)

"So, we had this gig, at, like, NASA or something, and then someone hit the big red button, and, well, we're on Jupiter, except that Cindy, who reads even she's not at school (Weird, huh?), says Jupiter isn't really like this, but anyway, we found this giant robot and we painted it up with like the band's colors and all, and we're trying to go home but all these grody aliens keep attacking us cause our music makes their eyeballs pop or something? It's, like, really freaky."

Actually, mixing Mecha Crusade in with Iron Lords of Jupiter sounds similar to an idea I was working on late last year.

The idea is to run Mecha Crusade with the mechs powered by steam. Then introduce the Martians and their tripods from War of the Worlds in their "home turf" as bad guys.

Colonial allies Britain and America set out in their flying ships to colonize Mars, but find that the "natives are restless". (as to why they are working together, I have a detailed backstory written, but I'll spare you the details...for now) ;)

If you've ever read the second series of League of Extrordinary Gentlemen, you can see some of what inspired me.

And speaking of inspiration, I'm wondering if ILoJ might not be the mini-game to tie is all together for me!

So when will this be getting to subscribers? :)

I'm gonna like this setting. I bet it'll be a hoot when combined with Mecha Crusade, Spelljammer and Hijinx...... :D

One of these days, when there's an extra page to fill, Polyhedron should do a little article on hybrid campaigns using previous minigames.

From What Evil Lurks [Pulp Heroes/Shadow Chasers] to Mechaball Rally 2076 [Mecha Crusade/Thunderball Rally], it's all good stuff.

Man! Am I excited about this mini-game! Like many of you I cut my sci-fi/fantasy teeth on Jack Vance, Burroughs, E.E. Doc Smith, Howard, and the "Flash Gordon" serials. I have been looking for a good campaign/game idea for my next run (there are so many good ones out there right now) and I think I have found it. When does it hit the stores?
