True. If you have a scroll you can sell it to the wizard in question, have him scribe it into his book and cast it on you as part of his payment. A scroll is worth a lot more than a casting.

If you have a scroll... any lowlevel wizard with spelclraft can cast it on you... remember there is casterlevel *imbued* in the scroll too...

is a scroll easier to find than a wizard willing to cast the spell? You could always go to a cleric of the god of trickery and ask him to ploymorph you ......

Well, a Planetar has 14 HD, so you will have to be 15th level (ECL) before you can do that.

Does this limitation apply to Polymorph Any Object?
Given that it can turn a shrew into a manticore or an inanimate object into a creature, I'd say the HD of the subject is irrelevant. Of course, then you have to figure out how many HP the target receives -- or do you simply translate inanimate object HP into creature HP and leave creature HP alone?

Well, as I see it, the HD limit is the same as with Polymorph. If cast on an inanimate object, you only need to fulfill the max 15 HD requirement, since objects have no hit dice value.

Interesting idea... Although I seem to recall some passage about taking on the nature of your new form or gaining it's intelligence score or something... Guess that means the DM might collect the character sheet?


Although I figure it'd be much funnier to see what real Planetars made of this transformation... Planetars with spiked baseball bats and Antimagic Fields.

Edit: Which, I guess, is one of the reasons their creator gave them 8th level magic.
