Possible return of Dark*Matter

The orginal D*M book is available on RPGNow http://www.rpgnow.com/product_info.php?products_id=1250& as a $4.95 download.

Here is a bit more info about D*M

Think back to every story of alien visitors, psychic powers, occult lore, unexplained miracles, strange cults, and secret societies that you've ever heard... them imagine if they were all true, and your job was to investigate them.

This new campaign setting for the ALTERNITY science fiction roleplaying game rips away the comforting veils of ignorance, exposing the world's corruption and rot for all to see. Devious organizations scheme for world domination, otherwordly forces infiltrate our power structures, and creatures from our nightmares lurk in the shadows. Working for a clandestine organization called the Hoffmann Institute, heroes explore hidden mysteries while eluding forces - both human and alien - that scheme to control the truth.

Thanks for the summary, Dismas!

It sounds kind of like Delta Green for CoC, but without the Cthulhu influence.

Neat!

And as it is a setting, I imagine it would port well over to D20.

That being said, it kind of looks like D*M focuses a lot on space ships and "space stuff". Am I getting the right idea here, or is what I saw mainly Alternity stuff?

No D*M is a pure conspiracy type game X-Files, Millenium, Ultraviolet.

For space and space ship its the main rules or the Star Drive (S*D) setting

FYI, D*M began life as a CoC campaign run by Monte Cook. He's stated, iirc, that he thinks CoCd20 would be a better fit for it than d20M.

But, yeah, a comparison to DG is spot on. I can't wait for the revised DG to come out. :)

I can remember Jim Butler bringing a Galley proof over to GenCon UK. Seeing my name in print and the wonderful layout and design and wishing I could take with me, my ring binder hardcopy just did seem the same after that (must see if I have still got my playtest copy).

I still have mine. One of my treasured possessions, as RPG products go.

Nice to see you, Rob.

Another Alternity product (setting) that would make an excellent mini game - Tangents. Providing a framework for interdimensional adventuring in parallel worlds.

Mini games are about 60 pages. The original book was only 96 pages (including a 40 page adventure)
