Bit behind the times, aren't I? :) Well I liked the original, but got out of PC games for a goodly while and thus missed the sequel later. I saw it was down to around $30 at the local Wal-Mart and picked it up. But I'm stuck and don't know how I can kick the plot back into gear.

I've taken a ride on Oswald's amazing crashing airship and cleared the valley area, the glacier area, and both levels of the Aurilite temple. I've done all the tinkering with the prism, killed all of the priestesses, found all the hidden rooms with the teleporting staircase and found everything I can think of and done it.

So here's the thing: the temple architect, Nickademus, says he wants a favor from me and I agreed to do it way back when I first found him. Since then I've found his lost items and done all that other stuff, but every time I go back to him to try to get that favor, he tells me he'll tell me later. He's been telling me he'll tell me later for the better part of a month while he and my party sit on their butts in an empty, frozen temple. What do you have to do to unlock Nick's quest?

I'm half tempted to kill him for the XP and move on, but I messed up a few other quests earlier on (reuniting the ranger with his druid pal and the gnome with his spider) so I'm trying to make up.

Do you have to clear all nine levels of that battle square game or something before he'll let you know what he wants you to do so you can get on with doing it? I've done up through level four. I'm pretty sure the quest is a typical give him back his stuff quest, but I've got his stuff and he wont tell my poor PCs he wants it back.

Heya:

If I recall correctly, the favor you'll do for him comes quite a bit later. I seem to recall that you'll need to go up and down some stairs. And there's a painting or something near a stair on the right hand side that you have to click on to get it to do something. I think. It's been a while. Might be best just to try the Black Isle site.

Good luck,

I've been up and down all the sets of stairs I've found multiple times, and to all the places the stairs with the painting can teleport me to. I would move on, but I can't. Oswald says the airship isn't done yet (even though he cast his spell to fix it like 30 days ago) and I don't see any other areas for me to go to to get anything done, so I'm thinking the architect's stuff needs to get back to him and I can't get him to ask me for it so I can offer it to him.

Guess I'll have to try the Black Isle site.

Oh man, I remember that. I'm struggling to remember how I got through. Did you play the puzzle game? I think that was an important plot point.

I ended up wandering around for a while before I found the solution. have you looked at http://www.planetbaldursgate.com ? I think they might have some pointers.

I figured it out. Despite being a voracious reader and quite competent in the English language, I spent three days confusing two PCs who only share a few letters of their names in common. :)
